BossHog 04-21-2005, 05:56 PM ...There are scouts who believe Campbell was a product of superior talent this season, and thats the reason his stats increased so much this year from his previous years. If Gibbs draft's this kid with the #25 it will prove he knows nothing when it comes to judging unproven talent...
Aren't most QBs drafted high in the first round products of teams with superior talent around them? That's like Carson Palmer quarterbacking for the University of the District of Columbia. Go firebirds! :oink:
PSUSkinsFan21 04-21-2005, 06:22 PM anyone have espn insider they have an article about the redskins making a draft day deal i am not a mmember of their club i want to know what they are saying the link is on the homepage of espn.
I've posted the draft rumors from the past few days on the ESPN Insider Draft Rumor thread. It's not as earth-shattering as it seems from the title. They just basically said that the skins have contacted the top 4 teams about moving up to, presumably, draft Braylon.
joethiesmanfan 04-21-2005, 06:23 PM ohh okay cool

Troy Aikmen, John Elway, and plenty of others who weren't surrounded by great talent.
PSUSkinsFan21 04-21-2005, 06:32 PM Just a few thoughts in response to some of the posts on here, and then I have to stop talking about the rediculous "possibility" that we are going to draft Campbell with #25 because it's giving me headache.
I agree that Campbell could be a good backup QB to Ramsey in case of injury, but I don't think the skins are in a position to spend a first rounder on a backup QB. Too many other needs.
I agree that Campbell offers nothing over Ramsey except his mobility.
I'd bet money that Gibbs was at Auburn for Rogers and is simply using the visit now to make a nice big Campbell smokescreen.
The Skins signed Brunell long before Gibbs had a chance to see what Ramsey could do in person. After giving Brunell that contract, they had to make him the starter last year. It's not like Gibbs worked with Ramsey, had him as his QB for a little while, and THEN decided to go out and sign Brunell.
The Skins would be foolish to pass up the talent available at WR and CB in this draft on a second-rate QB.
I agree that this year's QB class is weak at best, and there is no way the skins blew their 2006 draft just to take someone who is only the caliber of Campbell. They're either packaging to move up, making a play for a veteran, or going WR/CB or CB/WR in round 1.
joethiesmanfan 04-21-2005, 06:33 PM well whats wrong with ramsey? everyone says he doesnt produce cause he hasnt had the right talent around him, if those qbs did it without great talent around them then maybe we do need antoher qb?
Defensewins 04-21-2005, 06:48 PM I disagree that this a weak QB class. It is not strong, but it is not weak either.
I think Jason Campbell and Adrian McPherson will have more upside than Alex Smith and Aaron Rogers, who will be drafted in the top 5.
Campbell and McPherson are legit athletes...I hear McPhereson can throw a 75 yard ball flat footed, has great speed, size and light up theArena League.
I think some of you guys are short changing what Campbell did in college. He played in the SEC, was on a champions hip contender and had a different offensive coordinator and system all of his four years at Auburn.
Just like Roethlisberger outplayed Eli Manning and Phillip Rivers last year, I think McPherson and Cambell will do better than the Qb's drafted ahead of them.
Regarding Ramsey, if he can not take the pressure of having a rookie QB on the roster in his fourth year, there is no way he will stand up to the pressure of being an NFL QB.
It looks bad when I hear folks saying it would put too much pressure on him. Is he man or a mouse?
JWsleep 04-21-2005, 07:32 PM Let's assume that the Campbell thing IS a smokescreen (I do assume this, BTW). What follows? WHy do this?
This has the effect of raising Campbell's stock, and of distracting people from what we really want, viz., CBs, WRs, DEs. It also makes Pastabelly look bad. All this seems a-ok with me. If it convinces someone in front of us to jump at Campbell, great. That's one less team taking a CB, WR, etc. in front of us. But this seems a rather elaborate smokescreen, plus it rattles Ramsey's cage. Reports from the Post and ESPN (neither friends of the skins at present) both had Gibbs at Auburn working out Campbell. Gibbs didn't deny this. So maybe it's just a deal of rating players and considering what might be there at 25. We'll see.
skin4Life28 04-21-2005, 07:33 PM I have no doubt that Campbell and McPherson will be good. They are the two best athlets at the qb position. Finally someone brought up the SEC, hands down the best football conference in the past years. Feel free to argue all you want bout that, but its true. Campbell has handled himself so well this year that he should be a first rounder. McPherson is carrying some very heavy baggage, but I was a gm I think I would take a shot on him. Saturday will answer all of our rants and questions. But if we do draft Campbell it would be completly unfair to him to not want him here. Aka Philly when they got McNabb. Now he is one the most beloved qbs.
skinsguy 04-21-2005, 08:14 PM I say let's worry about it after the Redskins make their selections this weekend. Too many people are getting their panties in a wad before we have even made a move.
