Giants Game Negatives

It's pretty simple. This team/franchise fails because it's in their nature to fail. It's in the DNA, from the front office on down. There are no winners here, none. None who give enough of a crap to care. None who will do the work and make the sacrificies to get things done. It's been this way for 20+ years so why anyone thinks it's every going to change is beyond me.



Players continue to make the same stupid mistakes. The front office makes stupid mistakes and stubbornly refuses to build any depth whatsoever. And fans continue to hope. It's remarkable, reading people's posts last night and today, listening to fans and the sycophants on local radio, how things change radically.



Two weeks ago, after the team's first win after nine straight losses going back to last year, you'd think this team was 5-0 and rocking and rolling the way people talked. They beat the horrificlly bad Jaguars, and suddenly the offense is unstoppable, the defense is 85-Bearish and the coaches are geniuses, unlike the evil Shanahans who drove this franchise into the ground, as if it wasn't already six feet under when they got here. Cousins was the next coming of the franchise QB, people keep conveniently blocking out his mediocre to bad performances prior to this season...I saw everything from people predicting 9-7/10-6/11-5 records and playoffs...uh huh.



Then reality set in when the team played you know, a professional NFL team last week. Albeit one with a poor secondary. So Cousins continued to look like a world beater until Philly started putting pressure on him. Oops. That ended the comparisons to Joe Montana, compounded by the disgraceful performance last night...



Then another prime time embarrassment, in a "home" game where large chunks of the crowd were again in the oppositions colors. Cousins looked worse than Grossman on HIS worst day. The defense was comically bad. The coaches were again outclassed and clueless.



None of this will end anytime soon. With Seattle and Arizona next, this team will be 1-5 and probably will end with at least 10-12 losses again for yet another subpar campaign. The franchise QB that they stupidly traded away the world for, is so fragile he's at the point where he could get out of his car for practice and something will tear or snap. Cousins is what he is, a 4th round pick with very limited potential. The special teams and defense are laughably bad.



The Seattle game on MNF will at least add to the recent string of prime time disasters/embarrassment. This whole team needs to be blown up and sunk in the Bay and then rebuilt like an expansion team, but unfortunately that won't happen.


I agree with all of this. I can no longer dig deep down for hope. Either the team really is cursed (burial ground stuff), or DS needs to sell this team and a complete rebuilding needs to be done. Even 2012 when I look back seems so cruel. Its as if after years of just straight forward suck, the Gods said you know what lets screw with these fans a little differently this year. So they gave us RG-3 and hope and elation! It was 14-0 against Seattle in a home playoff game, and we were back! Than the Gods had us rite where they wanted us and BOOM! Complete disaster on so many levels since that glimmering moment of hope.

I'll agree that Kirk has a pension, early on in his career, to throw interceptions. But I also think it is hard to deny that when given the time, Kirk has shown more natural ability to play the position, than Robert every has in his 3-years with the team. Robert's not throwing the interceptions like Kirk, because Robert's too busy awkwardly running around and flopping on the ground, either as a result of being hit by the opposing defense or simply because of his inability to slide properly. How can such a "great athlete" look so awkward when he gets out of the pocket. I have NEVER been impressed with Robert's ability to play the position at the NFL level, because he has shown that he just doesn't have the innate ability to process information quickly enough. When are we going to stop buying into the hype and start looking at the harsh reality. Robert Griffin III is a product of Redskins Nation's intense desire to finally win, after over two decades. And because the organization franchised its future to get him, the leadership at the top is unwittingly perpetuating this false belief in a player that has great potential, but will never be the player we want him to be in order to truly lead this team. I could go on but I think I have gotten my opinion across enough. I hope I am wrong. I wish I am wrong. Because at the end of the day I am a diehard skins fan and always will be. I just don't think I am!

Fuck it!! I'm not throwing in the towel just yet, I might in denial but I have faith. We currently have a lot injuries, young players starting (Amerson, Breeland, Cousins). These team is better than last year, we do still have some shitty players (Meriweather, Polumbus, Riley, Chester) but as the season progresses the team will get better (granted we get some of those folks back from injury. Playing with your 3rd string TE didn't help Cousins.

Eli Manning, Trent Dilfer, joe Flacco, Doug Williams, Mark Rypien. All not so great qb's off the top of my head - that won superbowls because they had two things going for them. O-lines that allowed them to manage the game and even shine, and great defenses. We are sooooo far away from being great in those two aspects of the game that it makes me depressed and sick. Unless you have a Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, or Aaron Rodgers you will not overcome those deficiencies so I dont really care rite now which of our two qb's is playing. It aint happening until we build a team around one of them.

RG3 had one great year and a year when he played hurt. He was starting to catch traction this year but got hurt again. Cousin has the benefit of playing four years on a pro-style offense in college. So his fundamentals are more sound... Robert did not. Our division opponents know the weaknesses of this o-line and continually expose it when they play us. The coaches have a propensity to be too loyal to these players. Long and Moses should start to be on the field. Chester and Polumbus are dead end players. Moss should be on the field. He is a leader and he can not lead from the bench.

Cousins pretty much doomed the young secondary and the defense. If your QB throws 4 INTs, your defense will not look good. Giving the opposing offenses good filed position and leaving your defense with no rest. We need to figure out how to stop the seam route. We need to get Moses coached up. We need to teach Cousins some intestinal fortitude (can you teach that?). RG3 would have taken the punishment and taken the responsibility on his self. RG3 does no throw passes up for grabs because he is under pressure. I noticed in the Eagles game when Cousins got hit or sacked. He looked terrified, he had the look of horror. RG3 took a lot of hits but that is better than throwing picks.

Im not sure about Griff catching traction. He certainly wasnt catching it against Houston. For a very short time he seemed good against Jacksonville, but KC also looked like Superman and Colt McCoy probably could have beat that team also. So...nice thought but ehhh.

My hope is that the game in Philly was such a street-fight that it left them drained. Not saying it as an excuse or a belief that they are particular good but just that this was, hopefully, a not particularly good team having a really bad day.
