The Peyton thing, supposed insiders were saying while it happened. (I didn't believe it at the time, this was when Peyton was a FA, with an uncertain future with neck injury.). The Foles thing, though? I could be wrong but sounds like revisionist history, along with rumors we would have picked Russel Wilson instead of Cousins if we could have. It just seems too convenient to look with hindsight and say "we actually wanted THAT player."

Here's what I wrote on Feb. 9, 2012 (in response to someone saying we wanted Weeden"

"Hmm. Had heard Kyle-Foles, Mike-Cousins, both kind of Tannehill"

"But let's say we sign Peyton, then I could see a trade down into the later 2nd/early 3rd where you pick a guy like Foles or Cousins and/or maybe you find someway to add a 1st in 2013"

"I've gotten the impression they like Tannehill and Foles more than Weeden"

There's probably more but I did say pretty often back in 2012 that Kyle liked Foles, Mike liked Cousins. Neither to start, but to develop

Bumping old thread about secondary.. Any updates on Phillip Thomas? Is he done after only one year? There was a lot of hype last year, and then even in the spring, so when we released him & no one picked him up & landed on practice squad -- I'm assuming he's still not impressed / is still injured / or just plain sucks...?

And what the heck is going on with Tracy Porter. What a waste..

I think Thomas will be called up very soon. Maybe after the bye. I don't know for sure but from what I've been told he's totally healthy and they're close to calling him up

Awesome. It would be great to see him on the field to stay.

Amazing how much the secondary has struggled without Hall to cover the #1 wr. Hoping he makes a full recovery but his age probably means it'll be tough for Hall to return to form. Our secondary is weak. But it could be fixed in a year, look at what denver did.

Yeah at safety in coverage they have struggled. Tree really struggled at first, but I think has gradually improved each game. Biggers is up and down. I think surely they have missed Hall, but I dont think its been as bad as I anticipated at CB. If your talking safety, then yeah its bad. Merrieweather hasnt been good and Clark is just old. Tracy Porter has been a predictable horrible signing

Breeland last week.

1 Int, 5 tackles, 1 pd, 2 TFL and 2 of the tackles were third down stops a yard from the chain.

I think Breeland has alott of potential I really do hes been impressive. Clark over his head has been major.

Aside from an inefficient offense, secondary has been the major weakness of the defense. I think Amerson and Breeland have talent, but that's a lot of inexperience in an already weak secondary.

Losing Hall was a killer. He was one of those guys we just couldn't afford to lose.

Future looks bright though with Amerson and Breeland.

If anyone doubts this, unfortunately Dez Bryant will make this clear on Monday.
