Keim on Cousins:
Redskins QB Kirk Cousins shines against Philadelphia Eagles - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/blog/washington-redskins/post/_/id/11196/kirk-cousins-shines-against-eagles?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed)
If Cousins is kept relatively clean, he is great - rhythm passer, anticipates the route. When rushed, he throws at the receiver without the anticipation. Expect a LOT of blitzes Thursday night.
You can be darn sure that other teams will learn from that.

What you said. I've grown accustomed to this team losing and can generally shake off bad losses, but this one made me sick. Philly is a legit team and we had them dead to rights, but losing has become so much a part of the DNA for this team.
They simply can't get out of their own way and will find ways to lose more often than not. And now the Giants come to town after trouncing a team we lost to in week 1. These guys need to grow the hell up in a hurry.
Yeah. It's like watching the game I never got excited, not once. I had a pretty strong feeling they'd blow it somehow. Even with the offense tearing Philly apart in the first half. That was a perfect example. By all accounts it seemed like the Redskins were kicking their butts all half, but....they went into the locker room trailing.
It's always something. The offense plays great (and let's face it, Jacksonville's and Philly's defense leave a lot to be desired, so we'll see if this pace continues) and the defense and special teams screw it up. Or it's the other way around, etc.
What frustrates me is all the talk in the media and from fans about how it was a good effort and they showed fight, etc. It was a loss...in the NFL you don't get style points, you need wins. No matter how ugly. Stupid mental lapses on defense and stupid penalties doom this team all the time.
They sure show a lot of cockiness (Jackson's dancing, the ball spinning every time someone catches an eight-yard pass, cheap shots and pointing) for a team that's won one game (over a horrid Jax team) out of their last 11 going back to last year. They better get to work fast this week and stop patting themselves on the back or NY will come in here and surprise them.

I don't know what you're watching. He's been blitzed plenty and, for the most part, he's gotten the ball out quickly and made the Defense pay. I hope the Giants blitz. I think they'll get punished for it.
Some of his inaccurate passes had nothing to do with pressure.

The missed interceptions pissed me off. People pointing to the Cousins interception as one of the reasons we lost, as if no bonafide starter ever throws an interception, are idiots. Foles should have thrown 2 and no one says he should be a backup. I'll take 3 TDs to 1 INT anytime. Any team would.
When a QB throws 48 times there's going to be an INT or two. Do people realize this? We dropped two by Foles. Also with that many attempts there's going to be sacks. Oh wait...
For a guy making his 5th start and is still getting use to all the 1st team WR's, KC was outstanding yesterday. What QB's yesterday played better than he did? Luck? Maybe Foles? And speaking of Foles, he's one hell of a QB.

And you don't think we'll get better in that area either?

Reading twitter can really give me a headache. A couple things I don't understand from fans after the game yesterday. First the fan that feels they have to talk up rg3 almost in defense because if Kirk solid play and tear down Kirk in the process. And then the fan that wants to talk up Kirk one game this year to tear down rg3.
I agree. RG3 CAN'T play right now. How can there be a controversy when one guy is injured and can not get on the field. There is only 1 option right now, and it's Kirk Cousins. 1 game wasn't going to determine anything. He's the starter for at least 6 more games, so let's wait and see.
But 400 yards and a 3 to 1 TD to INT ratio is damn good for a guy making his 5th career start against a legit Super Bowl contender on their home field. Yes, he didn't get us in field goal range on the last drive, but even the most elite QBs in the league aren't perfect. How about Aaron Rodgers yesterday? 7 points? How did Brady look against the Raiders? We're not even in the game without KC. Let's just see how he does over the next 6 weeks. If he consistently fails to deliver in the clutch, then we'll probably get RG3 back and need to get fully behind him.

It's getting old. It will play itself out but one of them is going to have to be traded next off season.

When you come away knowing that your backup QB has come this far, to the point where you have two starting caliber QBs, you have to be very happy.
That's an extremely good Eagles team that we went toe-to-toe with. They are a legit super bowl contender and we almost beat them in their house.
We lost lane discipline on the kickoff return for a TD, that was extremely disappointing. Otherwise I'm very happy with that game, aside from the injuries. I think we have reason to believe the Redskins will be very competitive all season long.

Rather have Minnifield or Crawford. How about both and cut Porter who's wasting a roster spot.
