Johnson had the last laugh. skinsfan69 10-06-2014, 08:54 PM Then again, it takes me back to Terry Allen. If I remember correctly, the guy basically had both knees reconstructed at one point or another, but was still a very effective running back after the fact. So, the way I see it is, if you're going to have some major injuries, you should probably have them while you're young and able to bounce back faster, as opposed to the wrong side of 30 when things start slowing down a bit. On top of beating this injury bug, he still has to become a very good to great QB. We'll see.. Lotus 10-15-2014, 10:25 PM RGIII practicing again. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/redskins-robert-griffin-iii-returns-practice-180611959--nfl.html Gary84Clark 10-17-2014, 06:21 AM On top of beating this injury bug, he still has to become a very good to great QB. We'll see.. Robert has talent that can be developed and carry him until he matures. You can't develop talent that is not there. Brady and Manning have talent first, they take a cerebral approach. That fools people into thinking all they need is a cerebral approach. Nope!!! You might get away with that against Jacksonville but one sack fumble and then it is back to reality. There is only 1 Manning and 1 Brady. There are dozens of Schaubs, Grossmans, and Bradfords. Gary84Clark 10-17-2014, 06:36 AM The RG3 pick was vetted a million times before the pick was made. That was a scientific pick. Let the young fella mature. We could always sign Schaub if we want the next drop back passer. We could always sign Schaub if we want the next drop back passer. You make an excellent point here. I believe that he can be outstanding in time and very good soon. I mean, what tool doesn't he have? He's highly intelligent and hard working; therefore, he will learn to play the way he needs to play in the NFL. As always, the only caveat is his propensity to get injured. To me, he is like a gazelle running in a buffalo herd; the gazelle is bound to get hurt. Evilgrin 10-17-2014, 12:12 PM If he can't stay healthy, its a busted pick. I think he can be a great player, but it doesn't matter if he isn't on the field. I don't know if they weighed that enough when making the pick, hindsight always being easy. Also his rookie season made the pick look great. No one in the FO seems to want to step up and make him sit long enough to be 100% also. WillH 10-17-2014, 12:13 PM Wow, looking at that, it kind of puts things in perspective. Rypien only had two seasons where he started all 16 games. And look at Sammy, It looks like he was out a lot throughout his career. Also, he didn't play a whole season until his 4th year. I don't know much about that time, but, was he often injured or what? Edit: That said, there are plenty of teams that have had consistent QB's for many years, and they've stayed healthy. So, I don't think it is too high of an expectation to have our franchise QB stay healthy. It may be an unrealistic one though with Robert. mredskins 10-17-2014, 12:30 PM And look at Sammy, It looks like he was out a lot throughout his career. Exactly, the Redskins were not a good baseline to use for that analysis. Try say Indy, Pitt, BAL, SD...etc. |
