Just to be clear, I wasn't saying he was being reckless, I know that was very flukey, and fundamentally he did not "expose" himself to injury. That said, I think if you can operate from the pocket, those kind of things are less likely to happen, which is why we all have been saying he needed to develop that skill set. It's just disappointing to see any progress in that direction wiped out by the very thing they were supposed to be getting away from. Coincidence? Yes. Completely unrelated? Not so sure.

But that didn't happened. He jumped to throw a pass (which was a 1st down) and landed awkwardly on his left foot. It's not like RG3 was knocked out.

I mean that's like me saying that DJax made an extra effort and got hurt for doing that. Even though he got hurt because he had a guy on top of him.

I know, but he reverted to his old style of play going 200 miles and hour. I thought he was supposed to be learning to be a pocket QB. He should not be playing like this especially after the 2nd knee injury, he shouldn't be coddled but they also need to be careful and not pull a Shanahan. He is/was the franchise.

He tried to be a pocket QB during the preseason and the first game, and it didn't work. Honestly, we needed a 2012 RG3 that knew when to slide; and IMO up until he got hurt, we seemed to have that.

If RG3 had been knocked the F out, I would have agreed with you. Dude got hurt b/c he landed awkwardly on his foot, I think that could have happened to many QBs.

I don't know if I called that super reckless...he landed on his foot in an odd way. If he lands okay, he probably doesn't get injured. But oh well.

This. The pocket collapsed, I honestly have no idea how people wouldn't expect a mobile quarterback to bail when he's in imminent danger of being sacked. It looked like a freak injury to me. I just hope he will still be decent when he comes back.

This I don't agree with. Becoming a pocket passer was essential for him, and that was because running with the ball exposes you to injury. Could this have happened to any QB? Yeah, sure, but the more a QB rolls out and jumps in the air to complete a throw the more likely he is to be injured. There's just no arguing against that.

That said, I was hoping they were just sprinkling in some of those read options and bootlegs so the D stayed honest. Which, very likely was the case. I really doubt they were going completely back to 2012.

I just still feel that I would have rather gone through the growing pains of RG3 becoming a pocket passer, and not gone to the safety blanket because people were impatient. I don't know, hindsight is 20/20, but I don't think it is outrageous to say, he was less likely to get hurt if they stuck to pocket passing. Oh well, we will never know.

BTW, I did think it was completely baller (and freakishly athletic) of him to complete that pass in the air, after dislocating his ankle.

Redskins reportedly hope RG3 will only miss 4-5 weeks (http://network.yardbarker.com/all_sports/article_external/redskins_reportedly_hope_rg3_will_only_miss_4_5_we eks/17281736)

Not buying it, but you can hope.

Separate question, anyone surprised that the Jags didn't put in Bortles? If they knew our history against backups they would have found any excuse to put him in!

That and rookie QBs, but behind that line he might have gotten the David Carr treatment.

The problem with RGIII is that he is very competitive and plays with a reckless style, he didn't play in a pro style offense in college and for him playing in the pocket is a learning process. Today he reverted to his reckless style of play and got hurt.Griffin made two outstanding passes from the pocket - the bomb to Jackson, and a 19 yarder up the seam to Paul. On the play he was injured, it was a called bootleg rollout, and he planted his foot at an awkward angle avoiding the LB. How is any of that reverting to reckless play? He didn't even take a hit. I call that bad luck, and I'm thankful to have a competent backup on the roster.

Yea its a shame 3 went down like that. He was lookin like himself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTz7tRIWfFA the reason we never gave up on him. In 2012 nobody was nicer than rg. Kaep, wilson, luck, outshined his whole rookie class.

But things happen, bad luck happens. Glad Shanny did us one favor beside a division title/playoff appearance... He drafted the Captain.
