Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread

It's so dumb how RG's mistakes are magnified and his visible progession as a pocket passer is minimized, while Cousins' mistakes are minimized and his big plays are magnified. It's like people want to hate our starter, which makes no sense.

So on that note, can we quit the "RG is a bust because he looked bad in a preseason game" crap? Until we see the Houston game, we won't have a good enough look at the guy to make fair judgements.

backup qb has always been the favorite player in this town. it's just the way it is.

you have to go out of your way to find quality analysis on him at this point.

chris cooley's pretty good, but it's admittedly hard to tell when he's being a homer and when he's giving quality analysis.

Love how Kap does his RG3 impression on third down and gets no criticizing on his behalf. Not to mention he fumbled.

I think he's mentally out of synch. Confidence is everything (look at Shaub), and those split seconds of indecision are everything. His stutter step hesitation to Morris caused the interception.



I'd say we have the pieces now to compete, we may have a good enough defense to take us into the playoffs if our offense showed up.. Come on, if RG3 could just get the ball to ANYONE (morris, jackson, garcon, roberts, reed) -- we'd be fine. But he's running it out of bounds for losses (!!) and telegraphing passes. Personally I think he runs it out of bounds instead of throwing it away so his completion percentage doesn't suffer, which is sad.



I'm just hoping (1) O-line gets better as they play together enough (including M.Moses playing well enough to come in mid-season to solidify the right, (2) RG3 starts to be confident again & not lose games for us.





But.. it's only preseason. Let's see what happens.

Wow. Just wow. I mean Reed is effin wide open huh? Jeez. That is concerning. Two more weeks to fix it.

If Rg3 keeps taking big hits every game cousins will get his shot.I just hope they are on the same page and he learns how to slide.

So what for style points. Grossman can't win and neither can Cousins. We play Clowney and Watts week 1. Cousins don't belong on the same field as those two athletes. Robert ran out of bounds, ain't that what y'all p*ssy ass fans want?We sure as hell don't want our QBs running OB and taking a 5 yard sack when just tossing the ball out of bounds would put the ball back at the original line of scrimmage! Yea hes just gotta use his instincts and let it rip like he used to. He has been hesitating. But last game he didnt hesitate and he threw the pick to Haden he rifled that one quick. So here we see hesitation, there we see an itchy trigger. Man i hope he shows up week one. Hes had a few good throws he takes heavyyyyy critisim its ridiculous.

It will anger me if the NFL fines and suspends Meriweather for the head-to head hit. I don't think he did anything wrong on the play. He was plenty low but the RB lowered his head at the last instant which is what caused the h-to-h hit.

I think the NFL is doing a terrible job of officiating this rule. The offensive player bears some responsibility for protecting himself, as well. This penalty should be reviewable and if the offensive player contributed to the h-to-h hit then the penalty should be waived.

Also, there have been many of these calls that I consider to be incidental. These have mostly involved hits on QB's where the QB's helmet is just grazed or tapped lightly as part of a clean play. Often, the player who is penalized is blocked into the QB. These plays should not be penalized.

The worst part of this poorly thought out and officiated rule is that the player who was penalized is invariably fined and suspended. This rule is simply unfair to the defense as it is currently enforced.

So much overreaction about the preaseason. Theismann should know better than that. How many times have we been completely fooled?

He will show up in week 1, he will use his instincts, and he will let it rip. He will be helped a lot by a game plan that will be tailored to what he does best.

After he plays well in Game 1, I will call his most vocal critics on this board a bunch of short-sighted, faithless cry-babies.

p.s. - In the unlikely event that I'm wrong and he plays poorly, those same critics will rip me a new one and I will start to worry about his play.
