Lots of folks talking up Cousins' performances over the past few weeks. On most teams there might be something to it. But the Redskins are in to the end with Griffin. I think i've always felt like they give him one more season. He looks slow, vulnerable, and un-inspired. I think there is no way we see Cousins in the game short of an injury. I doubt that Gruden benches him in the 1st season. A QB battle is more believable next off-season.

Do you think we are so busy trying to turn Griffin into something he's not? Maybe it's too much of a shock?

something tells me that we really have not open the playbook yet
No kidding!
The coaches are keeping things basic to be able to better evaluate players.
RGIII is working to improve his weaknesses, not to showcase his strengths.
In the regular season, we we'll see a much more dynamic offense with game plans that play to RGIII's strengths.
Many of the harshest RGIII criticisms in this thread were typed by people who over-reacted to a preseason game performance. We'll know a lot more about where RGIII stands after a couple of regular season games.

An NFL Quarterback? Might be a lost cause.

I agree about the playbook but on 3rd and 8 no one is looking for boots or play action. He's going to have to drop back, stand in there and complete passes. You also have to realize that the defenses are also not showing their entire package either. We'll see week one but I have my doubts if RG3 fixes his issues by then.

Cousins is another Grossman.
You might be right about that. But Grossman stands in there, doesn't hold the ball, completes passes and gives the WR a chance to make plays. With the offense and the playmakers we have now, that might be the best option.

I'm waiting to see this press conference with Rob. If he acts like I think he will, I'm on the Kirk train.
We all know Kirk is no world beater. The guy is middle of the road but can get the ball out quick and (usually) gets it to the right spots at the right time. This is a traditional, pocket passer led offense. Rob looks awful right now. He has no more time to get it together but we need to let him play out the year and see if it's even possible for him to be serviceable but as of this moment, he is just flat out terrible. That passing performance was unreal and with 3 corners out and against 2nd string on the last drive, inexcusable.
Exactly. That's the sad thing. RG3 is getting severely outplayed by a guy would probably be the 20-25th best QB in the league if he were a full time starter. And anyone who wants to blame the O-line need only look at what Flacco did.
He was under more pressure all night, but got the ball out quickly and took sacks when he had to. RG3 threw that embarrassing interception against 2nd stringers and with all the time in the world to throw. Missed Jordan Reed who couldn't have been more wide open.

Bottom line, Cousins sees the field, Griffin doesn't. For the first time, I'm coming to realize that he may never progress as a pocket passer, and that's a scary thought. Could be another lost season.

I see everyone's getting worked up over a preseason game :)
Funny, we don't want Robert to run, don't want him in a read option offense, we want him to be a better pocket passer but nobody wants the growing pains associated with making that transition.
