"This ruling — which of course we will appeal — simply addresses the team’s federal trademark registrations, and the team will continue to own and be able to protect its marks without the registrations. The registrations will remain effective while the case is on appeal.

So the team still owns the trademarks until the appeal is over. If they get denied, I take it the use of the term Redskins is a free for all and the team will no longer have sole rights to its ownership.

Who decides what is "Disparaging". As a Redskins fan the name "Cowboys" is highly disparaging to me. Quick, some one take a poll and send it in to the tradmark office. I want Jerry Jones to lose his trademark as well. While we are at it with this political correctness witchhunt, tell Obama that his beloved Chicago Bears name is also disparaging. Bears are scary! I want that trademark denied.

Meanwhile no one seems to be making an issue of the Cleveland Indians and their mascot.

Does this mean we can go back to calling this site "redskinswarpath.com?"

lol this is the first thing I thought of this morning

they really need to address this problem at the lowest possible level. Meaning im pretty sure if the cowboys didnt kill the indians we wouldnt be having this conversation...and Dallas isnt apart of the collective bargining agreement on sharing proceeds so it wouldnt even effect teh league to get rid of the cowboys

or the fact poverty rates of native americans

national avg 9.2%

avg family rate among 10 largest reservations in the country: 42.6%

Harry Reid "f*ck that poverty noise, someone is saying the term Redskin" Redskins name >>>>>poverty issue of native americans

a term never spoken in a deroguatory manner

Fellow Skins fan Redditor said they should change the name of the Washington Redskins to "Washington Native Americans Forced into Poverty by the US Government."

Slap them right back in the face.

Nope. (As you may have already read.)

This is the very same thing that happened in 1999. Very same "evidence" - everything identical. I would be extremely surprised if the ruling is upheld.
