los panda 06-27-2014, 01:59 PM Why does it need to be an Indian name?doesn't need to be, just made sense to me to revert back to our original name.
what part of [brave] "american indian warrior" is offensive?
if it was my team, i'd keep the redskins name until my profits hurt or until they made me change it > i would change it back to braves, and keep our current logo.
skinsguy 06-27-2014, 02:03 PM You know, it may be about money. But honestly, I don't think that's a totally awful thing... Conditions are deplorable on a lot of reservations, and frankly, the US government has a lot to do with that. Now, whether or not the money would actually go towards making things better is another discussion altogether, but that's beyond the scope of this discussion, I think.
In terms of these tribes getting money - hey, I don't blame them in those regards. These reservations need money. But I think there are better ways of going about it.
I think about this: Teams that have Native American names could really help to market great ways of raising awareness and raising money. For instance, $1 for every purchase made at home games could go toward a Native American fund. A % from ticket sells could also go toward this. Commercials could run during Redskins games speaking about the fund Snyder has created and ways to donate to that.
Or, you could just sue for $9 billion dollars, lol!

Supposedly, Native American mascots "dehumanize" Native Americans.
If the name changes, we need to stay away from all Native American references. Because if we don't, we will run into this baloney again. Unless we make a clear distinction to let people know we're not referencing Native Americans, I say no to Braves, Warriors, and any other similar terms.

giving into fools is not the answer

What's your solution?
I don't see any way to effectively fight the wave of PCness that is sweeping the country. If it were just white governement liberals and the current minority of NAs that made up this particular part of the wave(the anti-Redskins angle), we could fight back. But this wave is like a tornado, tearing through the country and sucking up pretty much everyone in its path. It is now quite popular to either be offended at something, or to jump on someone else's "offense" bandwagon and go to town... or court... or the internet... and spread whatever outrage you're offended by, in order to gain the masses' sympathy, and/or soothe your own guilty conscience, and/or attempt to lift yourself up by putting on a show of sympathy or despairing offendedness. And so because of that, there's not just a few pro-name change people like there were in 90s; it's the majority of the country now, in my opinion. Seriously, there's even Redskins fans who have given in and have pity for those on the pro-name change side.
Remember this quote: "It isn't what it is, Tommy. It is never what it is. It's what it can be made to look like?" That is truth, ladies and gentleman... unfortunately, these people are very good at making the Redskins and our name look bad.
As long as Snyder is the owner, I think it's doubtful the name will change, unless some higher authority steps in and absolutely forces him to change it, which isn't entirely out of the question. I hope he continues to fight as long as possible, but I really don't see any way he can win.
ram29jackson 06-27-2014, 03:50 PM no court and no judge will appease these fools who are trying to attack one of the biggest money making business's in the country IE the NFL.
they have no legal ground to stand on and no proof of truth of their claim
..I don't need to know a solution. I just know the NFL will take care of it.

ram29jackson 06-27-2014, 06:08 PM unless it becomes illegal to be a KKK member this cant go forth. if this succeeded the next step would be to arrest or fine people for wearing Redskins etc gear...maybe lol
