that first round draft coverage was the worst thing ever. ray and boom didn't do their homework and spent the entire night quipping generic platitudes. it was painful/horrible.

however, the next day they decided to go with people who actually had at least half a clue as to what they were talking about. i don't know why they didn't start with them, they were soooo much better.

Chuck Noll passed away. Rip class act.

Chuck Noll is the most under-rated coach in NFL history.

Meh I'd go with Bud Grant or Georgea Allen on that one. Chuck Noll was the DC for Shula on the Dolphin team that got beat by the Namath/ Jets. I didn't know that.

Noll beat Grant in the one game they played against each other that really mattered. Grant and Allen never won a SB while Noll turned around a team that was a total joke into a 4x SB winner.

He did. He knew how to draft and made a good selection when he took TB.

I agree that Noll knew how to draft, because he built one of the most talented teams the NFL has ever seen, but I was saying that winning those SBs with Bradshaw at QB is another feather in his cap.

The fact that Pgh drafted TB when they had Hanratty means they werent sold on Hanratty and TB was splitting time with Hanratty in his rookie year in an era when teams took their time developing QBs. There was some tension early in TBs career because he took a couple of years to develop but by the time they started their SB run there wasnt any argument that TB was the starter and TH was the backup.
