SKINZ_DOMIN8 04-05-2005, 12:09 PM I am with most of you on Rod and that we may be better off without him but one of the main delays in a move being made is that Rod wants that one season to inflate his value before he is a free agent next year. This could be a great thing for our beloved skins.
Let him have the one year, at a low cap cost to do his best for the big dollars. Can this really hurt us?
YES. Unless you like 4th-tier talent being the so-called #1 receiver.
SKINZ_DOMIN8 04-05-2005, 12:12 PM If we cant trade him, and have the cap room to keep him; I say keep him. With it being a contract year, I would be willing to bet he would perform pretty well. Then we will just be smart enough to let him go after that. Him and Moss would be neck and neck as #1's if we dont draft anyone, but I just dont think we should let him walk.
GARDNER IS NOT A #1 RECEIVER!!!!!!!! HE WOULD NOT START ON PENN STATE. WHY CAN'T YOU PEOPLE SEE THIS?
SKINZ_DOMIN8 04-05-2005, 12:13 PM I guess that's why he consistantly stayed after practice and caught an extra 100-200 balls a day, that shitty work ethic of his. Rod Gardner isn't as bad as the media makes him look. He makes the easy balls look hard, and the hard balls look easy.
You are probably one of those "fans" that think Ramsey is the next Montana, right?
Daseal 04-05-2005, 12:17 PM Last year was a disappointment for Moss because of injuries, but he STILL had a much better season than Gardner, and he also played in a conservative offense.
It is true that Gardner was on a wide open offense. Boy did he have all the opportunity in the world to show himself last year.
You guys make Gardner out to be some horrible player. Yes, he drops balls. He has good speed for a man of his size, and he can make some big plays. He can get YAC, and is better than Moss, Patten, and McCants. If we can trade him, fine. I understand wanting to move on because seeing the spot where he was drafted makes him a bust. However, I bet he'd be at the top of the depth chart. There's a reason he's been a starter for this team for a while.
There looks to be a good chance that we won't get either Edwards or Williams, so that leaves our options at WR in the draft as very slim. Gibbs doesn't seem to like McCants. So we may have to keep Gardner.
Daseal 04-05-2005, 12:19 PM Skinz - It was reported by the Washington Post that he was doing that. I think Ramsey has potential and played well when given the oppurtunity. I also realize when you take away all of a man's receivers and replace them it takes time for chemistry to form.
Ramsey has a gun, and once his head catches up with his arm - he'll be great. They need to cater the offense to do two things: focus on Portis's strengths (quick cut and go), and Ramsey's strength (less short passes more intermediate to long passes. 7-15 yard completions.

Niether Coles NOR Gardner could break a tackle to save their life. At least Coles caught the ball. Gardner couldn't catch a cold. If we keep Gardner it will be the most idiotic move the Redskins have ever made. Cut him outright is what should happen if we don't get any offers for his worthlessness.

You didn't answer my question. His head will never catch up to his "arm." You really need to start watching the games instead of watching ESPN highlights.
Daseal 04-05-2005, 12:23 PM You'd be a great GM, anyone ever tell you that? You're looking like we have the next Jerry Rice to replace him.
Daseal 04-05-2005, 12:23 PM Because by watching games I can tell that his head will never catch up with his arm? He's far from a stupid guy, I have a feeling you didn't exactly get into Tulane.

Actually, I went to a real Top 25 academic college.
You Ramsey fanatics will all be proved wrong once again this upcoming season. Too bad it will be another "throw-away" year for the Redskins if he starts the season. We had better find someone that can win games quickly.
