Colin Kaepernick, 49ers reach six-year deal extension - NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000356009/article/colin-kaepernick-49ers-reach-sixyear-deal-extension)

Really really sad when mediocre QBs continue to get this kind of money. Flaaco, Cutler, and now Kaep.

Kaep is too young, and has done too much to be called mediocre. Too early to classify him, and he has done enough to justify the niners making the investment imo.

I didn't say he couldn't be the real deal, but you don't pump 60+ mil of guaranteed money into a guy that hasn't proved it. Hey, might as well go back to giving rookies that type of contract.

I would not have signed him to that contract, nor would I have signed Flaaco or Cutlers to theirs. Let some other team make that mistake.

Yeah first 200 Million dollar player.

Not with his knees ,not unless he wins a super bowl or two .

Kind of off topic, but I wonder why Cooke was in such a rush to build a new stadium if he knew he wasn't going to keep the team in his family. Perhaps he knew it would sell for more, getting more for his foundation.

He tried for over a decade to get a new stadium built, I wouldn't say he rushed

Imagine what RGIII will command?

If he can approach what KK has already done then he might do ok.

Crazy how there is a new thought process where even if your QB just shows potential, you have to pay him 60 mil guaranteed.

Also interesting that the last 2 super bowl winners didn't really pay their QB's that much and somehow still won it all.

Teams are too afraid now of losing a QB, even though its been obvious that you don't need a great one to win a super bowl, just one that is "clutch".

I thought Flacco got paid alot? I also think Wilson will. Kaep has been fairly clutch in the 29 games he has started no? Two nfc championships, a valiant effort in the superbowl, and three road playoff victories. He has thrown many more td's than int's. He runs for a ton of yards, and has a damn good qbr.

He got paid after his super bowl.

I'm just saying in order to win a super bowl you do not need a QB that takes up almost 20 million of your cap space.

Kaep is a good QB, but his contract probably means they won't be able to keep a lot of pieces that helped him be successful in place.

I just think teams are panicking and think they have to pay QB's a lot more than what they are worth otherwise they suck. San Fran made it to the NFC championship game without Kaep one year. They have a great team, Kaep is a good player but he still is just a piece on one of the most talented teams in football. He isn't a 126 million dollar piece.

Yeah I agree 100%. He's earned the contract.
