No good deed goes unpunished. The media isn't passive. If the show doesn't have enough conflict or controversy to keep the viewer's interest, then the Oprah producers will create it in some way. They may draw a controversial comment out of Sam or they may do a little creative editing. The show has got to be about something. punch it in 05-16-2014, 10:34 AM I think its strange about the media hype that followed Tebow. I mean all he was - was a qb that didnt pan out. All that hype just because of his tebowing pose. Stupid. punch it in 05-16-2014, 10:35 AM No good deed goes unpunished. The media isn't passive. Everything Oprah touches turns to gold. donofriose 05-16-2014, 10:42 AM Michael Sam would be a fool not to capitalize on the Oprah documentary. He will probably be irrelevant in 3 years so make your money while you can. KI Skins Fan 05-16-2014, 11:03 AM Michael Sam would be a fool not to capitalize on the Oprah documentary. He will probably be irrelevant in 3 years so make your money while you can. Sure, the documentary will be good for Sam and Oprah and, possibly, it will even be good for the NFL. It's not as likely to be good for the Rams organization and it certainly wouldn't be good for any player, coach, or staff member who might be portrayed as a bigot or villain in the documentary. donofriose 05-16-2014, 12:39 PM Sure, the documentary will be good for Sam and Oprah and, possibly, it will even be good for the NFL. Yea and if he gets cut he knows why. He is taking a chance trying to make his money now because he knows he might not have a job at the beginning of this season. That is almost every single NFL player's goal, make as much money as you can, especially a player in Sam's position. You may be right, but I do think Oprah tends to focus on the positives of success. Most likely the bigot/villains that are used as the backdrop will be -in no specific order- personal demons Sam overcame, childhood bullies, society at large pressure. Any portrayal of specific current coach/player/staff in a vilifying manner would open the show up to slander, and again, it's not my understanding of Oprah's style. And no I don't have her channel on speed dial :D MTK 05-16-2014, 03:39 PM ^ I'm guessing this show would be a puff piece more or less. The NFL isn't going to let someone show them in a bad light. |
