If DJ was really just interested in getting paid he would have visited other teams, no?

Personally, if I were starting with a new company and wanted to get off on the right foot, I would cancel the vacation and come in, but that's me. Now if he misses a OTA or mini camp then that's when it should be a story. Missing a week of workouts is non issue. Yeah agreed. I don't think we can equate Jackson missing this week of workouts to us missing our first week at a new job. This is more like Jackson missing the first 45 minutes of orientation meetings on day 1. Or like missing the first class of the semester where the prof hands you the syllabus and basically says see you next time. Although one year I skipped the first day of chemistry class and because the waiting list was so big for the class I lost my spot, lol. CRedskinsRule 04-09-2014, 03:19 PM I think about your question from a different angle: my understanding is that we have had a rep of, "If you wanna get paid, go to Washington." Maybe that rep has changed. But if we do have that rep, I would expect DJax to put that rep to the test to the maximum of his ability. But who knows what he will do. Well, I am pretty sure the rep changed once Allen came in. If you go to that angle though, the thought generally followed that the players stopped working once they got here or once they got their money. I haven't seen anything to imply Jackson wasn't going to work hard once he did get paid, just that he might slack off if he felt slighted or felt that he was worth more. If I'm starting a new job, I would inform them ahead of time (prior to me getting hired) that I had plans in place. If they are cool with it, I'm enjoying the hell out of my vacation BECAUSE when I show up at that new job, I'm gonna try to blow them away. I hear what you're saying though.. The timing was unfortunate, but I really have a hard time criticizing the decision. ethat001 04-09-2014, 08:29 PM Well, I am pretty sure the rep changed once Allen came in. DJax did NOT get a huge contract, it's actually LESS than what he was making before, and he has something to prove given his injured reputation. It's a three year contract but I think we could dump him after year 2 and have minimal salary cap charges. Point is, it's dramatically different than the $100 million dollar / $40 million guaranteed Haynesworth deals. That was a big payday for Haynesworth - but DJax's deal is less than he was making. I have no probs w him taking preplanned vacation. He'll be here soon enough. A millionaire sportsman having a vacation in the offseason the guy signed on for less money than any of us could have hoped for and now will have a major hard on to prove our division not just the Eagles were majorly wrong. *wise up* Lotus 04-09-2014, 09:07 PM If DJ was really just interested in getting paid he would have visited other teams, no? You are correct and I did not mean to imply that he *only* wants to get paid. He deserves credit for the fact that he got paid in Philly and still produced. Shadowbyte 04-09-2014, 09:48 PM Come on, the guy is Human. He just took a huge blow to his ego and overall state of mind by being rejected and dismissed from the team he played extremely hard for. The guy needs some time to get away and decompress. It's April, who cares. |
