Possible MLB?Big C 04-02-2005, 02:26 AM i thought he got released cuz he didnt want to be there anymore or something. but hes solid, great tackler, gettin a little old tho DragoJT87 04-02-2005, 07:01 PM Sharper was 7th in the league last year in tackles with 139 and led the league in 2003 with 166. This guy would be a steal if he's not looking for a lot of money. Even if he had one tackle last year he would have been more productive than Barrow. I am, however, extremely partial to homegrown talent and it would be nice to have Marshall or Smith be the starter. mooby 04-02-2005, 08:56 PM i don't think the skins will go after him. they probably feel that lemar marshall deserves it after the way he played last year, and jamie sharper might want big money. i would release barrow, and that crappy center, cory raymer, now that we have casey rabach. these guys both were busts. plus with us trading rod gardner that would free up about two million more under the cap. and joe gibbs said he was finished shopping in free agency, but if somebody got released the skins might be interested in him. Daseal 04-03-2005, 11:50 AM You say you're finished shopping, but if a good cheap player falls on your doorstep you gotta pick him up if you can! BigSKINBauer 04-03-2005, 12:44 PM You say you're finished shopping, but if a good cheap player falls on your doorstep you gotta pick him up if you can! how cheap is he gonna come? ballpark figure? anyone Defensewins 04-03-2005, 12:58 PM He won't come cheap, as DragoJT87 said, Sharper was 7th in the NFL last year in tackles. Led the NFL in tackles the year before. That does not sound like someone who will come cheap. skinsguy 04-03-2005, 06:01 PM You say you're finished shopping, but if a good cheap player falls on your doorstep you gotta pick him up if you can! I can understand this concept if there was no salary cap...after all, depth is a good thing. Unfortunately, with the salary cap, picking up a player that we may not have a use for doesn't seem very logical if we have X amount of dollars to spend. I would say to address areas that we have a larger need for. Daseal 04-03-2005, 08:06 PM It's pretty obvious that you only pick him up if you can fit them under the cap. I think he'd be a good signing if he came cheap. wolfeskins 04-03-2005, 08:22 PM if barrow is at full strength when the season starts , he'll prolly be the starter. i don't consider him as being a bust as some of you have suggested, he was injured just like lavar. barrow is a very good mlb when healthy. it would be great if he could return and have a good year for us. EternalEnigma21 04-03-2005, 10:20 PM Barrow is only considered a bust because he didnt come cheap and he's old and dealing with career threatening tendinitis issues. He could possibly come back and captain our defense next year and do well, and I hope he does. I doubt Sharper is a possibility. His only motivation to coming to the skins would be money, and we cant give it to him right now. There are several teams who need a MLB that have the $ to spend. We're not one of them. BTW... he did finish 7th in tackles and led the league the year befor while playing on one of the bottom 5 defenses both years. |
