What makes you think RGIII would take a contract worth 15mil/year? If he's still here after they exercise their option, you would probably be looking in the 22-23 million range per year as compared to 15. He'd have to be pretty mediocre to take a 15mil/year.
Cap hit smart guy, not average annual value.

That balloon cap hit is going to happen at some point. Kick the can eh?

I voted yes, but I don't see us being his highest offer. He would be a great addition, but not a price that kills our cap space.

Show me a single contract in the NFL that straight-lines the cap hit.
You're dismissed.

I think they mostly brought him so he can give them a nice detailed scouting report on the eagles offensive. I'm also guessing he was only to happy to come in and give it.

We should have picked De Sean out of college but we were trying to get big receivers and picked Kelly and Thomas. Stupid way to pick players based on height. Look at the tape can they play football. Jackson is a football player. We have big receivers but they can't catch.
I think it's been well-established by now that Vinny was an incompetent GM.

Guess again. They want him.

I laugh at this concept. That locker room cancer didn't infect the Eagles enough to prevent them from being NFC East Champs last season.
He'll relate to a guy like Hall pretty well. Will he be a great citizen and vocal leader? Probably not, but his on-field impact is too great.
In just about every article about Jackson's release, one of the reasons cited is that he had a negative influence on the younger players. Sure, the Eagles won the NFC East last year, but perhaps Kelly's influence and leadership were able to overcome what Reid couldn't. If all the talk about Jackson's gang activity and negative influence is just a smokescreen to hide the real reason, money, then I would be in favor of signing him. But I'd be wary of adding a guy to our locker room if he would be a hindrance to the younger players.

This alone is reason enough to pay that man.

I am guessing here but I would think there had been some preliminary discusion on salary prior to this meeting today. If the skins and JAckson were worlds apart $$$ wise probably would not bother meeting today.
Whatta ya know, some good ol' common sense. Good post, mrredskins! Neither side is fooling around; they just might get a deal done.
