DeSean Jackson meeting with the Redskins on Monday

Redskins can't get stacked. The moment we sign a name everyone screams 2000. Vinny Cerratto, and the entire nine. How many troubled players have the Patriots signed. Hasn't slowed them down one bit. You need talent to win in the NFL not character, Jimmy Johnson's Dallas Cowboys proved that.

I didn't even mention character. I simply said I don't like the move at this exact time, not that I don't like Jackson or his abilities. It's the same thing I said with the RGIII trade, I questioned the move at a time we desperately needed talent on the team. We still need a lot of talent. This is a 3-13 team.

You know how this division is 3-13 could easily be 10-6 next season.

This is somewhere between a 3-13 team and a 10-6 team 2 years ago. you can say they overachieved in 2012, but they clearly underachieved in 2013. The biggest thing to me, and we may never know this, is I want this to be a decision made with "football sound principles" whatever the heck they are.

I don't want an egotistical coach, or pure penny pinching GM, or a starstruck owner making this call. I would like the FO to look at it, rate the strengths he brings, compared to the weaknesses we have. Then look at the cap planning for the next 3 years, and the flexibility to make a solid move if it's there. Then see if the coach feels this player fits in the locker room environment, does he want him.

And if all that is done and we sign him awesome. If any of those throw up a red flag, and we don't, then I hope he goes out of division! :)

Of course, even if it all is done appropriately, someone will blame Snyder's interference for the signing, or BA's penny pinching for the lack of signing, cuz that's how we roll!

I don't like how DJ is being labeled a cancer. I mean the guy is good and he knows it. His arrogant attitude has been earned. We're not talking about Fat Al. He's not dividing locker rooms or punching out his teammates. Whoever ends up with DJ and his salary, it's not like the guy hasn't earned it. As long as the guy doesn't shoot anyone or do illegal drugs, I'm cool with him.

Not everyone on the team is going to keep their nose clean. You know by today's standards people would characterize Riggo has having "character issues".

I'd just like us to be a team that has a lot of players who outplay their contracts. Alfmo is a perfect example. 1st round production for 6th round pay. We need more of that.

Nobody is that good at drafting. They just get lucky sometimes.

D-Jax is a proven game-breaker and he's only 27 years old. That's why teams pay for FA's like him rather than shoot craps in the draft.

#Chiefs & Andy Reid were intrigued by DeSean Jackson, but with limited cap space, can’t match the budding open market. Would’ve loved DeSean

Just wanted to put this out there.

Fair enough. Good to know.

I don't buy the "gang ties" stuff, so I am not knocking DJax for that or for anything criminal.

But I would not describe Riggo like DJax because Riggo, by many accounts, was a great teammate. DJax, going back years, appears to have little concept of the idea of a team. Reversing the usual, his motto appears to be, "There is no "team" in "I." Heck, at Cal he didn't even know his teammates' names.

Obviously most folks here differ. His talent and numbers are quite attractive. But he's not the kind of guy who I would want in my locker room.

Redskins, Jackson appear ready to do business | Comcast SportsNet Washington (http://www.csnwashington.com/football-washington-redskins/talk/redskins-jackson-appear-ready-do-business)

I'm increasingly joining the bandwagon on this. These moves are always about the "IF"s. IF he doesn't get into trouble, IF he gets along with coach, IF he is motivated -- he'd be awesome for us. These high profile moves - if they work, they can make your franchise. If they fail, it takes 3-5 years to rebuild, salvage the salary cap, and get a new coach.

With DJax, we solve a major issue. I think you're more likely to get a very good safety, RT, MLB in the second round than a WR.

Also in a strange way -- if our offense finally starts scoring again, it can make opposing offenses one dimensional / pass-first. That could help our defense, & allow our D-line just rush the QB. Not sure how our secondary would respond. So ironically, by helping our offense -- there's a chance DJax could indirectly make our defense more effective.

I can respect that. But who knows. I can't speak for his college days, but I doubt there were many high quality personalities in Philly. It is Philly after all. He's still young, maybe he can make a change for the better in DC.
