who we gonna get?BigSKINBauer 03-31-2005, 01:34 AM Who we gonna draft? i see that we have a lot of opinions in a lot of places and i would just like a centered place of thought. VishsSkins 03-31-2005, 01:58 AM I think we should draft a CB. Williams or Edwards probly wont be available and eventhough CBs might not usually perform great in their rookie seasons, in 2 yrs or so we should have a very solid backfield. A guy like Pacman will definitely eat up any receivers thrown at him in the future and with springs aging a bit, a CB would be a good way to go. LB Derrick Johnson is also a great option but he might not be around by the time we get to pick. If these two are not there for us, trading down would be our best option since we could pick up two solid guys such as Williamson, Matt Jones, or even TE Heath Miller. saden1 03-31-2005, 02:14 AM We are going to draft a defensive end. you heard it here first and I am rarely wrong. Once I win Matty will crown me...remember you took that bet. offiss 03-31-2005, 02:16 AM Given our cap situation this year the logical call would be to start dealing down, I am very happy not to know what direction we are going, I said it many times allowing teams to get a read on who and what your drafting makes you very weak as far as picking up draft picks. Teams are more likly to stay put if they figure your drafting a certain player or position, if they don't know you have a chance of grabbing more draft picks and still getting your man. hopefully they can continue to keep their big mouths shut. With that said I don't know who they will pick but my draft strategy would be to deal down to the middle of the 1st obtaining an early second and draft the best CB available, then in the second I would draft V. Jackson then I would go after a center/guard to backup and groom as a future starter. I really do enjoy the draft! :headbange BigSKINBauer 03-31-2005, 02:40 AM removed post Redskins8588 03-31-2005, 03:32 AM I am not sure what the Redskins will do in the draft, I would like to see us trade down pick up a second round pick, take the best CB or DE with our pick and pick up V. Jackson also. I agree with offiss, V. Jackson looks really good, he has alot of upside, I believe that he will be a very good NFL WR. huntz 03-31-2005, 03:53 AM Think they'lltake Williams at nine, but if he's gone, they'll deal down maybe using Gardner as part of the trade. FRPLG 03-31-2005, 08:01 AM Given our cap situation this year the logical call would be to start dealing down. Why? You dont' end up paying too much for your rookies the first year. A #9 pick will hardly be a burden on our cap. There are other more appropriate reasons to trade down though. Especially if an impact player isn't available at #9. He has been productive, and can jump and has long arms to snag the ball, he is stronger than most DBs and will outmuscle them.Reliable hands and does a good job catching the ball even if it is not thrown very well, gives effort at blocker but has the size and strength to be dominant if his skill is taken advantage of. Very bad acceleration, no burst or sharp cuts, he isn't good at running routes, he slows down when he puts the moves on and needs to keep his speed better (CP will teach him that!), Good PR in college but not good enough for nfl w/o elusiveness (SM aka small man will teach him that) "He had 66 receptions for 1,462 yards and 21 touchdowns as a junior in 2003 and 80 receptions for 1,382 yards and 11 TD's as a senior in 2004" 17.3yards/avg and 22.2y/avg in 2003 NOT BAD!! Overall rank 71points and position rank of 15 the rank edwards first then, mike williams, williamson, clayton, then roddy white at 5th, reggie brown, parrish, chris henry, jerome mathis(fast mo fo),fred gibson, terrance murphey, matt jones, and courtney roby, and then mark bradley then our main man VJ which may mean he could be around a while possible 3rd rounder, over looked? SonnySamFrank 03-31-2005, 08:25 AM Does anyone line Williamson besides me for the 9th pick? From ESPN: Williamson has rare athletic ability, adequate-to-good height, excellent speed and loads of playmaking potential. He's an absolute threat as a vertical route runner and he shows the upside to develop into a premier No. 1 wide receiver in the NFL. |
