We had the chance to re-sign him a few years ago before he went to Detroit, better late than never I guess.

Daseal:

You are absolutely right; Ray Brown has a lot of value as a mentor for young players - not just lineman - on the Redskins. He can give those who choose to be receptive a lot of wisdom with regard to things like hard work and conditioning and technique and how those things relate to longevity in the league.

Ray Brown can play 4 positions on the OL. He won't be an All-Pro at any of them, but don't worry about asking him to pull out to "the other side". He can do that as well as Dockery can - - and Brown is almost 20 years older than Dockery. Oh yeah, and he's not getting paid like an All-Pro offensive lineman these days either...

He reminds me of Jakie Slater. The guy is older then some of his coaches. He's a freek of nature! Its a great signing. It will show all the young kids how to work there asses off!

An excellent re-signing. I'm glad he's back. Let's hope Warner and Rock can re-sign too. Both will provide solid depth. I don't blame Rock for looking elsewhere at this point; like I've said before, he is under-utilized. The man should be used in short yardage/goal line situations. I hope we bring him back.

I like Rock - but I've never seen him pick up a lot of short yardage plays.

Rock is just way too small for short yardage. Too bad because I really like the guy.

I like Rock - but I've never seen him pick up a lot of short yardage plays. If I remember correctly he was used quite a bit in 03 on short yardage and was pretty effective. He's so short he gets lost behind the line.

Portis will be fine in short yardage behind what should be a much improved offensive line. He scored 29 TD's in his 2 seasons in Denver, so he can definitely be effective in short yardage.

I'd rather see Betts get more touches in short yardage over Rock.

Exactly. We just have to have the playcalling to compliment his running style. He's not a bruising back (even though I'd like to see him put on some muscle this year), so let's not try and use him as one.

rock tries his hardest all the time, but at this point, with the amount of PT he got, i dont care if he goes or stays

What games were you watching?

Rock Cartwright blows. We would do much better finding another veteran.
