I think someone from the front office needs to give his agent a call and tell him to stop talking. Nothing wrong with wanting to play, but I do believe that he needs to stop doing all these interviews and just be quiet. At this point in time, he's a backup and needs to act like it. Be seen and not heard. Let your play in spring practices do your talking for you.

Right now there's nothing going on so I say let him talk if he wants, once things start rolling again I'm pretty sure he'll let the issue die down.

We could fill Fletcher's spot by trading Cousins to:

Arizona for Daryl Washington or Jasper Brinkley (Dansby is a FA but is old and perhaps expensive)
or
Oakland for Nick Roach
or
Jacksonville for Paul Posluszny

I'd love to get Puz but we'd have a new hole to fill.

Keeping Cousins seems to make the most sense.

Are these almost daily reports of Cousins wanting a trade coming from Kirk himself, or just the media trying to stir up another fake controversy for us? I know he originally said it, but is he harping on it as much as the media? I'm doubting it.

Of course he wants to start. I wouldn't want a player on the roster who isn't striving to be the best at his position. If he really does become a problem, trade him to a horrible team like Jax and let him get what he wanted.

I would be a little surprised if the FO didn't encourage him to get his name out. If he was able to raise his value to a 2nd by looking energized and ready to go then good for him. It's kinda the same philosophy as letting a FA know you want him, but if he wants to test the market, go ahead, we have a deal for you here if you don't find better.

I get that wanting to get your name out is good. But NFL general managers aren't going to judge him by listening to interviews, they're going to look at the film, look at his work ethic and so on. I can't remember a back-up doing this much media. I can see doing one, but he keeps talking it seems every week.

I say keep talking Cousins up for trade value.

It's easy to find a backup QB of Cousins' quality. It is difficult to acquire a quality (rather than just-a-guy) ILB.

Turning Cousins into the new Fletcher makes sense.

Actually I was serious, if Cousins wants his opportunity he needs to go it instead of talking about it. Cousins is no competition to RG3, the coach said so. Only Shannahan's QB goggles think he is a first round selection. Shannahan should have had the nerve to pick his first round prospect.

Someone needs to tell all the #2 QBs in the NFL about these job opportunities up north.
I shudder to think how they have languished on the bench down here.

I wonder if the Texans would be a good option as a trade partner for Cousins if they decide to draft Clowney.

Probably not because I can see them drafting Clowney and trading for Ryan Mallet instead, that is what I would do.

I think being a backup in the NFL just makes some guys complacent ... Not to mention I bet the pay isn't nearly as good in CAN even if you were a star lol.. I dunno... Guys prolly view it as a step down, instead of an opportunity to play...
