I've yet to hear a legit compelling argument in favor of the PAT.

Probably a good indication why it's likely to change sooner rather than later.

Interesting because I havent heard a compelling arguement to change it.

<snip>At least, the PAT needs to be moved back enough to where it's not automatic. It needs to be earned. I'd say make it a 35 yard attempt. At least not less than a 30 yard attempt. Pretty much everything under 30 is automatic. That would put some drama in the PAT, and I don't think it would be such a change that those who hate change for change sake would be too upset over that. That way, if there happens to be an offensive penalty on the PAT, then it really puts them in danger of missing the point. I'd say either that or just go for two after every TD<snip>

If the PAT is eventually changed, this is a solution I could learn to live with.

Taking things a little too seriously huh?

I'm sorry I was under the mistaken impression the point of the entire sport was to entertain the fans.

Yes, I was a little heated when I typed that. :D

And the point of the NFL is to entertain fans, but when you do away with an integral part of the game so the fans are more entertained, then you're sacrificing the great game of football for mere entertainment. I don't think any part of the game should be changed so the fans enjoy it more. It's lasted for many years, so why change it now? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If the league is going to eliminate the PAT then I'd prefer to see them do it completely. No longer kicks or plays. Make TDs worth 7 points and give the other team the ball.

That would make the game less exciting by 2% right? And less dynamic? Im confused. Goodell is looking to make the game more dynamic and exciting, why do the opposite?

Problem is his changes have had negative impacts on the game, from a fans perspective and for players playing defense. I don't remember Rozelle or Tagliabue having such negativity during their runs. But I like some of the new proposals that are on the table w/ the PAT.

Different times/eras. Neither of them had to deal with the 24/7 glare from traditional and social media like Goodell does. Both of them had their share of problems if you do some research. Rozelle had his run ins with Al Davis, there were issues with drugs/steroids in the 80s, he also had two strikes during his tenure. Tags put in some strict and unpopular rule changes too. The start of the term "No Fun League" came under his watch.

Adding a more impactful plays to the game on extra scoring attempts rather than a 98% gimme point for a more exciting game isnt compelling? I think Goodell makes a pretty layman arguement

If saying a play that fails 1% of the time couldn't be improved upon isn't good enough for you there's not much else to say.

I dont see any of this making the game more or less dynamic, the game is fine as it is.

All this talk is a solution looking for a problem.

It is the most boring part of a football game.

One of the most exciting parts of a football game is a 2 point conversion.

I believe it is that simple. This isn't High school or college.
