JLC is reporting it could be 6 games.
Redskins TE Fred Davis suspended indefinitely by NFL - CBSSports.com (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24448694/redskins-te-fred-davis-suspended-indefinitely-by-nfl)
Have we officially cut him yet?
I have no sympathy for a repeat-offending idiot. He's flushed his career and honestly, his life down the toilet.
Enjoy life, Fred.
He's a pending free agent so we don't have to waste the time to release him. He's done in the NFL at this point. Good riddance loser.

Ray Rice of Baltimore Ravens knocked fiancee unconscious during altercation - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10484945/ray-rice-baltimore-ravens-knocked-fiancee-unconscious-altercation)
My guess is no suspension for knocking out a woman and then dragging her around a casino, yet Fred Davis is suspended for smoking weed. Funny world this NFL league.

This is not good...
Redskins TE Davis suspended indefinitely for violating NFL's substance abuse policy

Actually, this is just fine. He was basically a non-factor last season anyway. Moving along...

I've never seen the NFL suspend somebody indefinitely and it be shorter than a year. It's going to be longer than 6 games. Also, the JLC report was back in January when he first failed. He's not reporting that now.
Also, apparently Fred Davis or his marketing person thinks we are as stupid as he is.
Unfortunately, a couple of months ago I took a supplement that contained a banned substance. I now know that supplements are not regulated by the FDA and may contain banned substances. The NFL Policy is strict, and not knowing that a supplement might contain a banned substance doesn't excuse a violation of the policy.
He's busted for the substance abuse policy, not the PED policy. Why is he mentioning supplements when they have nothing to do with the substance abuse policy? I've heard of guys blaming supplements when they get busted for PEDs, but never heard anyone blaming them for failing the substance abuse drug tests.

Well, Fred probably got his "supplements" in Colorado. Perhaps in brownie form.

NFL is looking into the Rice situation according to this article. Davis is a repeat offender. Different situations IMO (for now).

Speculation that Ray Rice might be cut.
It's ESPN, so take it however you want.
Baltimore Ravens face tough decisions with Ray Rice - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/blog/baltimore-ravens/post/_/id/6856/ravens-face-tough-decisions-with-rice)
The Ravens are in a lose-lose situation with Rice.
In most instances, teams gain salary-cap room by cutting a player. But, the way Rice's contract is structured, the Ravens would lose $5.5 million in cap space by parting ways with Rice because of the pro-rated bonuses that would have to be absorbed. To put that in context, that $5.5 million is more than what the Ravens saved when they signed linebacker Terrell Suggs to an extension Monday.
The Ravens could designate Rice as a post-June 1 cut, which would create $4 million in cap space in 2014. The problem is, Rice would count $9.5 million in dead money in 2015, which is a large chunk for a player not on the roster. Anyway you look at it, the Ravens lose a significant amount of cap space if they decide to cut him.
They'd be foolish to cut Rice after one offense, though it IS a major offense in my eyes. But, if he does face a suspension, he's an expensive player to have on the shelf.
I've been telling Ravens fans I know that they're going to regret paying Flacco so much. He hit the jackpot timing-wise with his contract but it's going to hurt this team for years to come. Look at the Giants since they paid Eli, downward slide and they can't afford to even protect him or give him RBs any more. The same thing is happening to the Ravens, who have little cap room now and may face losing Arthur Jones, Jacoby Jones, Michael Oher, Dennis Pitta, Daryl Smith, Corey Graham...and possibly Ray Rice after unloading a lot of talent last season.
