Someone said they throw a pretty ball...

We don't need to pass. With all the TE/H-Backs we have, we'll just run it down someones throat.

LOL. Our offense is going to drive Daseal crazy! No 10 receiver sets

Too bad Spurrier got a job, he might have gotten to make a living coaching us! ;)

alright, alright, i'll be the resident fat guy...

6'3", 315 (currently, once softball season starts, i tend to drop anywhere from 25-50 lbs)

I can anchor the O Line at Center or Guard or D Line at Tackle. Slower than molasses, but definitely not afraid to throw my weight around and knock guys off the line...depending on the rules (especially flag, if everyone is eligible), I will catch anything thrown at me.

I am also a helluva kicker...in college intramurals, I was automatic from inside 35, and hit one from over 40 once. when i played rec dept flag, i was perfect on PATs (i kicked like 10 or so in 2 years, wasn't the main kicker), and hit a FG or 2.

just keep me in the loop...not sure I can play, but would like to know what's going on.

I'm guessing this will be the official thread for a while, so I guess this is the place to keep checking. Hopefully TAFKAS will have word from the Redskins sometime soon.

Quite the opposite, TAFKAS. Though I like to see 4 receiver sets sometimes. All we seem to have are TEs. 10 TEs make me happy!

So who is going to be the speed guy or the RB?

I sent an email to the Redskins early this morning, after I posted. If I don't get a reply in a couple days, I'll start calling them. I pretty much told them the same thing TAFKAS did, except I mentioned possible sponsorship by whomever is sponsoring Fan Day, ostensibly Home Depot (that's who did it last year). I figure between the Redskins and a sponsor, we should be able to drum up pretty good publicity for the game, as well as prizes/trophies, and any other expenses that would go into.

I also mentioned that everyone would sign an injury/liability waiver when they register.

I think the registration fee for charity purposes is a brilliant idea, and something that could really convince the Redskins to go forward with this.

As far as the field goes, they rarely ever use the turf field at Redskins Park, and they wouldn't have to worry about us tearing up their grass practice fields. The only thing you'd have to worry about with the astroturf is the turf burns/strawberries whenever you fall or dive for a ball. There's always a risk for injury, though, no matter what kind of field you play on, and personally, I think it would be safer to play on the astroturf than it would be on the grass practice fields or the bumpy, grass parking lot (which is a broken ankle waiting to happen).

I was also thinking about playing the game(s) during the intermission between morning and afternoon practices. I forgot that they don't have lights at Redskins Park, though. I had been thinking that if we decided to go the tournament route, we could play the championship game in the evening, after the afternoon practice. I'm hoping Gibbs will push to have lights installed for training camp. It's gotta be a real headache to have to covertly move the team to a secret high school field every time they want to practice at night.

I think if we can get plenty of support for this event (and I really think there will be a lot of interest from all the other fan-sites), the Redskins might buy into it, especially since the proceeds from registration would go to charity.

By the way, my hands aren't great, so wide receiver/tight end isn't the best spot for me. I'm love playing cornerback/safety, though. I can play linebacker, too. I guess if we get enough interest, we could have an offensive and defensive squad.

Had anyone considered the possibility of doing this for the Draft Day Party at FedEx, too? It's a little short notice to do it this year, but maybe if we're successful with this training camp thing, we could see about doing the same thing for future draft parties. Last year, the field was all torn up anyway, and they let the fans run around playing catch on the field, so I don't see why they'd object to having an organized flag football game after the first round is done.

I haven't contacted anyone from the other sites, but I'd assume there'd be a lot of interest once we do.

Thanks to you and TAFKAS for taking the initiative. I'm feeling very optimistic about what you've said. I also like the idea of playing on the turf. Pretty much everyone here said they'd play tackle football, so I don't think they'd care if they had a few bruises from flag football on turf.

I think that they need to open it up to a limited number of websites/groups however, because if they open it up to the general public, there is no telling how many people will want to enter and it may be a bigger headache for them.

I would love the idea too, of a player/coach officiating the game.

I'm sending emails to hailredskins and extremeskins today, are there any other sites I should contact? I feel like I'm forgetting someone.
