Just saw the ESPN article about Gruden retaining Haslett (http://espn.go.com/blog/washington-redskins/post/_/id/4940/gruden-explains-decision-to-retain-haslett). I'm not the biggest fan of Haz either, but I give him one more year. He will have control, cap money, and draft picks available. If our d isn't turned around at this time next year he's gone. This isn't a new system, we're giving him everything he needs, no more excuses. Get it done or get out.

Pretty surprised Ike Hilliard is apparently coming back as well

Except the WaPo article about Haslett's retention talks about an extension for him.

Who you gonna believe, me or the head coach. Come on Man ;)

ok so I hadn't read the article and was writing my hopes. Thanks for dashing them!

Hoping the Skins finally got it right, for the first time since 2007.

But the emphasis on Gruden being a former QB, specifically brought in to get the most out of our QB, with assistants already on the payroll before Gruden is hired.....

Not helping my optimism here, guys!

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I hope Gruden is more Jim Harbaugh than Jim Zorn. And I don't even like either Harbaugh brother! (Would love the Skins to be as solid as the Niners currently are.)

Zorn doesn't even belong in the conversation.

Just curious, why are you surprised by this? He's coached here, and with Gruden for the Tuskers. Seems like all the other coaching additions.

I realize all that, I just thought they might go in a different direction I guess.

Well, from what I understand, Haslett's contract was not extended, so perhaps this is a "show me" situation and Jay just kept him on board as a favor for giving him the Tuskers gig a few years back. I still would like to bring in another defensive mind to help out. Perhaps we snag the other Phillips? (Doubt that happens, though.)
