Who do we think is our biggest competition for Gruden?

The Titans are at the top of his list. I don't know if he's at the top of theirs

I'm pretty sure, from all I've heard, that Jay Gruden would want a 4-3 defense

Why did you say (elsewhere) that you were concerned about the staff he would assemble?

I haven't seen Pat Shurmur listed before as one of our candidates but this article says that he is:

My thoughts are that any interview with NFC East candidates (present and former) (Fewell, Bisaccia, McDermott) is mostly just an informational purposes type of interview. That is, to find out how division rival teams scout the 'skins. From what I have read, this is a practice that many teams, who are looking to replace their head coach, will do during the interview process. I recognize that I could be very wrong on this, but if that's the case, I wouldn't put too much stock into the interviews with the above mentioned names.

Do we need to read into anything as to the exclusion of Ken Whisenhunt's name on this thread's poll or is he still a realistic possibility for Washington?

I'm thinking in terms of the top three - 1. Darrell Bevell 2. Jay Gruden 3. Jim Caldwell. That's who I think the front office wants to narrow the search down to - with James Franklin being the "dark horse" candidate. While I know people will point to that one really bad season in Indy for Caldwell, I think he's a great choice.

I think Shurmur fits into what I was saying earlier. The Redskins want to interview assistant coaches from each of their division rivals - mostly for informational purposes (scouting purposes.) So, it makes sense that Shurmur would join the list with Fewell and Bisaccia.

I like it and agree with Bruce, i want a little more emotion and someone to get in some faces around the locker room. Some of this shoulder shrug horsesh*t from the players and coaches this season was unacceptable. Gruden to me seems ready to be a HC.

Maybe curious is a better word than concerned

Added Greg Roman. I know some of you have already voted, but didn't want to start a new thread.
