Thanks, that's what I'm hoping. Not that I couldn't get behind a Defensive coach.

WillH 01-02-2014, 11:10 PM Thanks, that's what I'm hoping. Not that I couldn't get behind a Defensive coach. The Dull Roar 01-02-2014, 11:14 PM Special Teams Kidding, I think the favorites are all offensive coaches so I guess I'd have to lean that way I swear to god, if I hear Danny Smith one more time.... SFREDSKIN 01-02-2014, 11:17 PM I swear to god, if I hear Danny Smith one more time.... And Gregg Williams. The Dull Roar 01-02-2014, 11:20 PM I actually wouldn't mind if Gregg Williams came back as the D coordinator. having a top 10 defense three years out of the four he was here for isnt bad. WillH 01-02-2014, 11:21 PM Where's Al Saunders these days? The Dull Roar 01-02-2014, 11:23 PM Where's Al Saunders these days? My guess would be the bingo hall? SmootSmack 01-02-2014, 11:27 PM Where's Al Saunders these days? Oakland Paintrain 01-02-2014, 11:31 PM From the list, which is quite uninspiring, I'd go with (in order of preference) McDermott, Fewell, Bevell, Caldwell. McDermott-Pros: Learned under Andy Reid and Jim Johnson, two highly regarded coaches on structure and organization. Lots of history in the NFCE. Aggressive but disciplined defense. Defenses have had an upward trajectory each year the past few years. Cons: Never been a head coach at any level. Unsure of offensive philosophy and who his OC would be (maybe Chudzinski). Is he ready or the next Spagnuolo? Fewell-Pros: Head coaching (interim) experience. 3-4 and 4-3 scheme experience. NFCE experience. Cons: Uneven performances with his defenses. Doesn't scream leader by his demeanor. Bevell- Pros: Decent history with Favre and Wilson. Run based which fits our personnel but not afraid to throw. Experience with a mobile QB. Cons: Have you actually WATCHED Seattle on offense? They get big plays from Lynch and lots of improv plays from Wilson but their 'scheduled' passing plays are pedestrian. Rankings have been middling, high teens, for most of his career. Leadership questions and he was fired just two years ago as an OC in Minnesota. Do we think he's turned it around that much? Caldwell- Pros: Excellent QB coach. Would probably be the best mentor for RG3 of this group. Has worked with some great QB so he could impart some wisdom from them. Cons: pretty much everything else. Doesn't seem like a great leader. Don't know about his overall team management skills. I'm sure he's a great football man but I don't know if he's what we need right now. Paintrain 01-02-2014, 11:34 PM And Gregg Williams. This. Can we stop with the Redskins reunion tour of Williams, Danny Smith and Russ Grimm? The only former Redskins coaches who should even be considered would be Whisenhunt and Bowles. Lotus 01-02-2014, 11:35 PM Win or lose they can interview on Monday. Thank you Matty, I didn't know that. |
