Well this week will tell us who they are leaning towards. I'm sure they will interview Gruden, Whisenhut, Zimmer and maybe Jackson. But if the Chris Russell rumors are true that they want a coach with HC experience they won't be hiring this week unless it's Caldwell or someone we haven't heard yet. Personally I think Whisenhut goes to Detroit.

Dalton is the problem. He's just good enough to get you there, but can't take you over the top.
Romo and Dalton. The "can't close the deal" QBs.

Skins could very well have a new HC by the end of the week thanks to that Cincy loss.
That's what I was thinking while rooting for the Chargers.

So the war for postseason media circus begins..
Regarding Jay Gruden as a possible candidate -> he's free now that Cincinnati lost. Admittedly I don't know much about him, except Jon's made his last name a well known commidity. During his years as assistant coach in Tampa, he was arrested for drunk driving in Florida (http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/bucs/2005-09-16-jay-gruden_x.htm)... Seems like much of his experience has been in Arena Football, except the past few years in Cincinnati, and a few years as asst coach w his brother. Is he qualified enough & do we want any more of a media circus with him?
Why would there be any more of a media circus with Jay Gruden as opposed to any other candidate? And what would make him less qualified than the other coaching candidates?

rubbish, balderdash, mumbo jumbo, palaver, bombast, claptrap, babble, baloney, drivel, folly, poppycock, bunk, prattle, rubbish, tripe, gibberish........and media innuendo not been good enough here?
Outstanding post.

Rather have Whisenhunt than Gruden, but oh well.
Whizz is still in play theoretically. We couldn't interview him last week but we can this week.

Why do you say that?

Why do you say that?
Because the Chargers won today. They can only interview coaches whose teams are on bye weeks.
Redskins coaching search: First-round NFL playoff results will determine status of several candidates (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2014/01/04/redskins-coaching-search-first-round-nfl-playoff-results-will-determine-status-of-several-candidates/)
Under league rules, assistants on teams that win first-round playoff games this weekend can be interviewed for head coaching jobs next week. Such interviews must take place in the city in which the assistant works and the assistant’s current team has input as to when the interview takes place. Those assistants are not eligible to be interviewed a second time by the same team until their current team is eliminated from the playoffs or until a second-interview window opens later in the postseason. They cannot be hired by a team for a head coaching job with their current team still in the playoffs.
