There is no way that Dan Snyder is going to hire a virtually unknown coach to lead his team. The new coach is going to be a big name. I just don't know which one.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the Redskins are flying under the radar while they are putting together a deal for David Shaw or Chucky.
I agree. They went "all in" on RGIII and feel they failed with Shanahan. They can't afford to "waste" RGIII on an unproven guy. They need a proven commodity who's #1 job will be to coach up and maximize RGIIIs potential. I would say theres a 80% chance the guy we hire has been a "big name" NFL head coach before. I also dont think we're seriously considering any defensive-minded coaches.
I would bet on these candidates, in the following order:
1. Wisenhut
2. Cowher
3. Jay Gruden
4. Jon Gruden
5. Jim Caldwell

Bisaccia intrigues me. Hire a paesano!
or go throw 10 mil a year at Les Miles. I love his passion.
worst clock manager in the game probably. unreal. would be an awful, awful hire. i cant stress how bad it would be.

Sizing up the Redskins' candidates: Rich Bisaccia - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/blog/washington-redskins/post/_/id/4540/4540?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed)
I see SMoot has been greasing some wheels at the mother ship.

Someone a few posts up just said Cowher himself says it's highly unlikely that he'll coach again anytime soon.

Mike Munchak meeting with Tennessee Titans CEO - NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000308550/article/mike-munchak-meeting-with-tennessee-titans-ceo)
For the Gregg Williams fans:
One huge, pressing question left for Munchak: Will he listen to suggestions about staff changes? The status of Gregg Williams is one of the big issues. Internally, there is some belief that Williams, not Jerry Gray, should be defensive coordinator. Williams could earn a promotion. The staff has been kept in the dark about their status.

Sounds like Cowher is out: Bill Cowher: 'Highly unlikely' I'll coach in near future - NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000308547/article/bill-cowher-highly-unlikely-ill-coach-in-near-future)
Really too bad -- I would have loved to see this. You know he would get our D playing better ball, and he's a serious motivator. Would have all kinds of cred with players and likely be able to get very strong assistants. Sigh.
Would no be a good choice, Skins need a HUNGRY coach who may see this as his only shot at as a HC.

I know. And Allen also lied and said no one from redskins had talked to him.

HAHAHA Id be ecstatic. Listening to him give a speech to his players or his post game press conferences give me chills.
And watching his clock management and lack of awareness at times makes me wanna punch him in the throat. Plus, he eats grass.

It's all academic if he wants to stay in broadcasting, but do you really think Cowher wouldn't be hungry to build a winner? The guy is as intense as they come. Don't you think he would want to be successful where Shottenheimer, Shannahan (and even to a degree, Gibbs II) were not? No way he comes here (or anywhere) to collect a paycheck. I don't think that's the right measure of the man. Again, all academic, it would appear.
