We are not going RT for our first pick. Please stop that insanity.
Why would we not. It's certainly an option. And given the minimal effort put into that position at FA, I would say they will certainly target RT early.
Now, I could see dropping back 6-8 spots, for the right offer, and picking an RT around 40-42, but certainly RT, ILB and Safety will be spots of interest.

Pick 34 will likely be a reach for the RT, ILB prospects available. Outside of the top 2 Safety picks, there's no one to consider near this spot. Dix and Pryor will be gone, if either is there though then the pick is a no-brainer.
Best to trade back and either stockpile future picks or late 2nd - 4th round OL / ILB prospects.

Why not....thats exactly what I want them to do.
Unless there's an absolute stud of a RT available I don't see us going that way in the 2nd round either.
The fan's view of Polumbus vs. what the coaches think of him differs greatly.

Maybe, but we have made minimal attempts to upgrade that specific position, and Gruden in an interview particularly blamed his RT in arena football as causing a broken leg or arm. I'm not saying that proves anything, but it certainly would seem he understands the importance of a solid line.
Also Gruden's RT at Cinci was a former 1st round pick. So I can't see him being content with Polumbus
warriorzpath 04-18-2014, 05:54 PM What position they target all depends on who's available at that position and who's available at other positions. Like if Verrett was still available, it doesn't matter who else is available because he's got top 10 talent. There's also a possibility that a safety may be overlooked in the first round. Like my man Bucannon that some analysts have liked and are saying is a first round talent. I haven't seen many OTs that analysts have been saying that about that are projected to be available at pick 34.
warriorzpath 04-18-2014, 06:07 PM ... Just seems like there are some sure fire first round talent OTs that will be picked in the first round. Then there's a drop off in talent level. The next group of OTs seem to project at the 3rd round at best because of different reasons and risks. So I think that any OT picked in the 2nd round will be a reach.
But there's also another dilemma with the Redskins' high 3rd rounder- there still may be players available at other positions- probably even at pos of need- that grade out with 2nd round talent. What do you do then?

I think we got RT in rd 3 but unless Taylor Lewan is staring us im the face at 34, I dont see it either. TE, FS, SS, CB would be my guess as favorites.
warriorzpath 04-18-2014, 06:31 PM ... I guess it depends on how much and how strongly you believe it will upgrade the RT position over Montgomery. Versus the feeling and grade you have with a player at another position.
This is probably why they say you need to stay true to your board- to make sure that you're basing your decision based on a well thought-out plan.

Yup. When we did try to upgrade, we reached out to Penn, a premier player. Therefore I wouldn't be too surprised if we grabbed a relatively premier draftee like Moses, should he still be there.
I still think we'll grab Amaro, though.
