Kirk Cousins Expected To Start Sunday

Let me fill you in. Polumbus let his man bull rush. Cousins fumbled and Ploumbus recoverd it. Cousins was trying to release the ball quicker but he was staring down receivers and almost threw several picks.

Look I saw the play later on the news. No need to fill me in. I've said last year we need a bonified RT. How many times did RG3 fumble the ball in the pocket because Polumbus got beat? or Trent? or the whole center of the OL?

I get the OL is bad. But as Firstdown said it doesn't excuse the holding the ball too long, not stepping up into throws, throwing the ball up for grabs, over throwing your WR's, terrible foot work, etc. etc.

This. Cousins also held onto the ball for a long time on that fumble. Dude has the mechanics, (can throw a sharp accurate pass) but not the skill yet (tends to stare down receivers, not read zones well etc)

Wait... your talking about RG3, right? LOL. I see all that with RG3. Their young QB's still learning. RG3's INT on Sunday was him staring down the WR the WHOLE time. The announcers even mentioned it. So RG3 is no saint either.

Giant, Eagle and Cowboy fans at work always make fun of the Skins this year after each game saying how last year was just a fluke and we are doomed to failure...

This is such a train wreck, they have quit talking about the Redskins or football in general around me... That's how bad this Circus is... Fans from our hated rivals actually feel bad for me being a Skins fan, they have laid off this week...

People are going to blame the knee brace for the foot work and the accuracy. I don't know much about throwing mechanics so I can't agree or disagree with that, just from what I've read in the past.

RG3 definitely needs to work on holding onto the ball, as he's in 2nd place behind Matt Stafford in terms of fumbles (11). While some of that is RG3's blame, the o-line shouldn't be letting him get nailed so much.

Here is Cooley's comments regarding RG3 and the coaches.

Former Redskins tight end Chris Cooley made an appearance on CBS Sports Radio and said that he believes that head coach Mike and Kyle Shanahan are not convinced that Robert Griffin III was the guy they wanted to draft.

“Over the last year and a half Mike and/or Kyle are of the belief that Robert (Griffin III) isn’t the guy they wanted,” said Cooley. “That it isn’t necessarily their pick and he isn’t developing the way they want him to develop. And it’s been very tough for them. And the same time, Robert is everything to the Washington Redskins.”

“I believe that it’s not necessarily just hat relationship, but it’s that ultimate belief that they’re not going to be able to win football games with their style of offense with this kid. And they’ve came to the conclusion that the best way is to cut ties as early as possible.”

If Shanahan is ready to move on from Griffin, then he clearly missed when he decided to draft him.

Cooley also went on to say that he believes Shanahan doesn’t think he’ll be able to grow with Griffin as his quarterback and that they’re on completely different pages

Chris Cooley believes Mike Shanahan is ready to cut ties with RG3 (http://network.yardbarker.com/nfl/article_external/chris_cooley_believes_mike_shanahan_is_ready_to_cu t_ties_with_rg3/15279239?linksrc=story_team_washington_redskins_au to_module_head_15279239)

There was rumors at the beginning of the season that the reason RG3 was started was because the NFL wanted him starting ($$$) and it was Mon. night football.

Also I wouldn't have put it past RG3 to have been scared of losing his job as other rumors have surfaced and that he rushed back so he wouldn't lose it.

Yes it is a big F-U, but if pressure has been on to start RG3, now is the perfect time to start Cousins.

You as HC, your job is at stake, the field IS a mess so you have a valid excuse to start the back up that you think is better, so you make the call. One of two things will happen...1- you prove your right and get to stay the final year with back up QB or your fired like you were going to be anyway.

Lets look at the positives.... If nothing else Cousins is getting showcased to be traded AFTER Shanahan is gone. Why would he care? If I was the HC I'd keep playing RG3, keep embarrassing the owner and QB in order to get fired sooner. Plus with no game film Cousins is just another unproven QB. Nice back QB. Atleast if Cousins shines Snyder will have more of a difficult decision to make. Keep the HC and back up QB and leave RG3 benched? maybe trade RG3 to another team for some of our picks back?

I mean if MS is done with the "read option" then maybe its RG3 who's expendable to a team that runs the "read option" say.... the Eagles? Right now MS has 3 games to prove to DS that the option is not the way to go.

SBXVII: I know you're trying to look on the optimistic side of things, and believe me, you won't find very many here more optimistic than me, but in this case, Mike Shanahan is not looking out for the best interest of the team, RGIII, Kirk Cousins, or anybody else. I don't even think he's looking out for the best interest for himself other than collecting his $7 mil. Maybe he's martyring himself to save his son's reputation, but other than that, there is nothing good coming out of any of this.

Also heard the same about "running QB's". Many of people here have said very few QB's like RG3, McNabb, etc. etc. do not do well and don't go very far because they are often injured. Some have said they would prefer a pocket passer.

Cousins might not seem to have the "IT" factor but maybe he manages the ball well and wins the games. Sounds like Eli Manning to me.

No, sounds like John Beck to me. We been down this road. The NFC Super bowl representative will be a running QB who runs read option.

Anyway, look at Matty Ice and Schaub. classic drop back paser game managvers that have problems with athletic defensive players. Even look at Breeze , he is being meurderd this year. We thought that with John Beck and Grossman, not true so they got RG3 to give our QB some athletic ability. We tried this before with the great drop passer hope is not gonna save you from the running QB. Cousins is not that good.

Honestly I've blamed the OL. but RG3 does hold the ball one handed while running. As far as the knee brace... he didn't have it last year? nor the foot work.

The only thing, the only thing that makes RG3 special is his legs. Meaning he's fast and he can run. Yes I'm all for a QB who has mobility so he can get away from pressure unlike Sexy Rexy, but I'd prefer my QB to stay in the pocket and go through is progressions if at all possible. Which brings me back to the OL which sucks.
