Chico23231 12-11-2013, 04:06 PM Wrong. The penalty was for Shanny and Bruce Allen restructuring the original contracts, pushing a large portion as guaranteed money into the uncapped year (2010), reducing future cap liability. I still feel that this was legal since there was no CBA, and that year had no salary cap, but the owners colluded to not go there, and Dallas and Washington thumbed their noses at the rest of the owners. Bullshit penalty, but Vinny had ZERO to do with it.
Vinny signed a worthless piece of shit to a record high amount for a player on defense. Vinny has every single bit to do with it
SBXVII 12-11-2013, 04:08 PM These boards are going to get pretty quiet when Cousins inevitably stinks up the joint.
He completely might. WE don't know cause he didn't get 90% of the reps his first year and when he did get 90% of the reps in the off season they benched him for the guy who did nothing but therapy on his knee all off season.
If you guys are expecting Cousins to walk on the field and run a spread offense with the read option and be better then RG3 then your nuts. Which I presume you guys already know and are saying Cousins will be worse. I agree.
But, if Cousins is not asked to run a spread offense/read option and is only asked to run Mike Shanahan's offensive scheme MS ran in Denver then Cousins I think could pull it off. Elway pulled it off. and Elway was no RG3.
Who knows maybe there was some big meeting with Snyder, Allen and Shanahan and they all agreed to get away from the read option and Kyle Shanahan's scheme and have Mike Shanahan use his scheme he used in Denver for his last year. If he can get RG3 up to speed reading defenses and making the right decisions then great if he can't then hopefully Cousins sitting two years made good use of the time to study the opposing defenses.

Wont be so quiet when Cousins is bending over that Dallas secondary

Cousins is no Elway. I think that the team is so bad that it doesn't matter who you really put there because they can't do anything right on any phase.
If Cousins plays well, and whoever coaches the Skins next year feels like he gives them the best chance to win, they will hopefully roll with Cousins and not care what RG3 thinks, what Snyder thinks, or what the fan base thinks.
A coach will be successful in Washington when he does what he thinks is best, and doesn't let outside influences sway his decision. Hopefully the next coach will not be Shanahan and do what he wants to do and not try to blame everyone else.
SkinsGuru 12-11-2013, 04:14 PM Not buying anything Shanny says at this point.
couldn't agree more!!

Wrong the penalty was Snyder for accepting the deal or to pay for it. Cerrato for making the deal. and I would blame the NFL for signing off on the restructures then after the fact claiming foul and assigning a penalty. In reality its their fault for signing off on the contracts to begin with... penalize that person not the Skins.
skinsfan69 12-11-2013, 04:16 PM I think he was pretty honest in his presser. The only thing he's hiding is part of this benching is performance based.
SouperMeister 12-11-2013, 04:19 PM Vinny signed a worthless piece of shit to a record high amount for a player on defense. Vinny has every single bit to do with itYou're missing the point - Haynesworth's original contract had NOTHING to do with the penalty. Shanny and Allen restructuring Haynesworth's (and Hall's) deals, and sweeping money into the uncapped year is why we were penalized. Again, the owners clearly colluded to discourage this, and to enforce penalties on us and Dallas, but Vinny wasn't here when the so-called offense was committed.
SBXVII 12-11-2013, 04:22 PM SBXVII you might be the only living person left in the free world who still cannot see through Mikes BS.
I'm in a win/win situation. If Mike gets the team winning and Snyder decides to let the contact play out then I'm happy. If Snyder fires Mike tomorrow I'm happy.
I think it would be a huge slap in the face if Cousins plays better and the team wins. Against a decent Falcons team. Then plays well and wins against two division rivals whom RG3 could not beat this year. < that makes me giddy. I'm for the under dog.
Think about it though. Talk with MS, fire Haslett after this season, bring in someone with a different idea for DC, fix special teams maybe a new coordinator, have a good draft, pick up key pieces with the $36 mill, cut some older players and bring in more youth
or....
Fire everyone and start all over and expect another 3-5 yrs for this team to get on track again with a new scheme.
Shanny can't return, he just can't. It's over.
