True, but again, Eli has two rings and that earns him the right to play through his slump. Big difference w/ rings and draft pick status.Basically, you point out correctly WHY Eli isn't going to sit despite his performance, and you're missing why Griffin is in an identical situation here. Kirk Cousins is Ryan Nassib. He shouldn't play unless the starter can't go.

You are worried about RG3's knee now? The beginnning of the season was when he needed to sit but he's now 13 weeks in so let him play. I never knew anyone getting better by not playing and RG3 sure can get better so he needs to play.
i was literally the only person on here saying rg3 should sit the first 4 weeks and then start after the bye.
i was ridiculed and made fun of.
im sure matty and some others could at least attest to that.

im sure matty and some others could at least attest to that.Your position has been consistent, but so has mine and I didn't think there was any reason to not play Griffin then or now. It's perfectly okay to play someone at less than 100%. It is in fact, impossible to field a team if you aren't willing to do that.
I think what people are saying is that not playing Griffin before was defensible (I don't know if I agree), but not playing him now is just petty.
True, but Aikman didn't have multiple knee injuries either. 3 games isn't a big deal. RG3 needs to sit. He's had a bad year and needs to be humbled. Hopefully he'll learn from this and he'll be the player we all want him to be.
I thought you were in favor of him being in there from day 1 in camp, practicing, playing in the preseason, etc.
But now regular season reps aren't important, especially 3 games worth? Just having a hard time wrapping my head around that.
gtripp and matty, i really like and give a ton of credence to both you guys opinions and thoughts but the last 2 pages both of have you have been talking as if rg3 didnt have major knee surgery last year . . . . im frustrated to but i want rg3 ready for the next coach and his o scheme
A little late for that don't you think?
Just based on how he moves now compared to the beginning of the season it's clear he's much healthier now.

I hear ya but what I'm saying is its 13 weeks in and its way past time for using the knee as a reason for sitting him. When they are out of it next year should he sit because he's had multiple knee injuries?
The bottom line to me is this is big boy football and these guys get paid a lot of money to play and if they can play then they should.

Pretty sure there were others.
I wouldn't have had a problem with that if they came out and announced that plan from day 1.
But right now, that's kinda old news.

Right now, Eli has a longer leash than RG3.

Yep.. sitting him out in pre season practices and all the pre season games was BS. As we see now, he needed the work. He wasn't good enough to walk out there and play, no 2nd year guy coming off a serious injury would be. The tides have turned now. He's been playing and practicing for 15 weeks or so? He's regressing on the field and making the same mistakes over and over again. He should be benched for his play AND to get him into the off season so he's 100% healthy. I have no issue with what MS is doing.
