DC NBC4 (local news) just named a short list of HCs that the Skins have reportedly been interested in:

Cowher
Gruden (Jay)
Mike Zimmer
Russ Grimm
Art Briles

I like Gruden and Zimmer. No Bevell?
I also like Chud. I know browns sucked but what else is new? I thought had them headed in the rite direction early on. I still like him.
Also i cannot believe Mike Smith still has a job.

Number one, we do not NEED an established NFL head coach. We have a new quarterback that runs a unique style, so find a coach who will cater to that style and make it work with the core players on offense we currently have, and will sign this offseason. (RG3, Williams, Garcon, Reed, Morris, Hankerson are really the only ones who I believe are shoe ins for next season. Its more than half, and I'm sure we will keep at least one of our guards, so 7/11 is a good core). Revamp the defense as much as you can with the draft and free agency, but TRY to keep them relatively young. Keep both your ends, they make or break the secondary and are a top 5 pair in the NFL. Find high motor smart guys for special teams.

These are all things that are doable in one offseason. I believe there will be plenty of high quality coaches that will be jockeying for the job this offseason. Why? Main reasons below.

- Finally have plenty of young talent
- Have a very capable backup QB, or an additional 2nd round pick, whichever way you play it, it is a plus for the team
- The HC will get paid more than market value, you can count on that
- Have shown that they can win
- Have the RotY franchise QB to develop and win with
- Have a true number one receiver
- Have a top 5 Left Tackle, as well as a top 5 rusher in Morris
- Have a top 5 pair of defensive ends
- Would be coaching in the NFC East, not the best division in football right now
- Have an owner that will spend whatever is necessary to win games and actually cares about the team, not just the teams financials
- And the biggest reason, Snyder has shown he can give football people, not yes men, the keys to the ferrari that is the Redskins franchise.

Of course there will be criticism, but any good young coach that gets offered this job would be stupid to pass it upYes. To the nth power, yes, I agree.

We need to go young and hungry. A relative unknown. Screw the retreads, guys with Superbowl wins/appearances or Conference Championship appearances, and what have you, from a decade or more ago.

We need someone who wants to prove what he can do, if given the same control Snyder gave to Shanahan. The only established big name I'm interested in coming here is Lovie Smith. The rest of the big names being bandied about around here and in the media can go fornicate themselves. The retreads haven't worked (and yes, I'm including Gibbs 2.0 in that, God love him).

Darrell Bevell, Kevin Sumlin, Jay Gruden and Greg Roman would be excellent choices.

I hope the list gets better than this.. No interest in Cowher or Grimm, faint interest in Gruden and Briles is a complete all in chips to the center of the table win big or lose big move. From this list, Zimmer would be my favorite.

Honestly I like all of them. Would prefer Whisenhunt over Gruden or Grimm, but haven't heard anything about us looking at Whisenhunt.

Sounds like Obrien to Houston and Lovie to Tampa. I hope we move fast to lock up our guy.

Have A.J. Smith / Bruce Allen / Morocco Brown pick a hot assistant, not necessarily on a playoff team. Ex: Todd Bowles - Cards.

And if Snyder's stayed out of the football side of franchise operations, for the love of god please don't jump back in now, Danny!

Shaw is still the best prospect if he can be convinced (tough task), Bevell, Jay Gruden, Whisenhunt, Zimmer, Bowles, Roman are out there.

No to Briles. You can't have a guy have his first ever experience of the NFL being as a head coach. A HC needs some kind of NFL experience even he is at a college now.

My select group of interviewees would be Zimmer, Jay Gruden, Todd Bowles, Greg Williams, and Brad Childress.
I know most of my choices are not the most popular, just my opinion.
