Everyone has somebody who is really hard to shop for. What are some of the best gifts you've ever given or received?

Maybe we'll get some good ideas from each other.

Good thread idea. My wife recently got me this for my birthday. Should start tomorrow

I am exceedingly difficult to shop for, so I bought myself a motorcycle.

Not into gifts, giving or receiving. Spend time with people if you care about them, do something with them or for them.

I'm big on gift cards. Amazon, good local restaurants, Home Depot, etc.

I'll third the gift cards idea, but also if you're looking to break away from the norm, me and my brother and sister are going the wacky/zany route this year. IE the weirder, the better. Bonus points if it's something related to an interest you have. I'm not sure how it's going to turn out but if I remember I'll try to follow up after X-mas.

My brother and sister in law made a donation to a charity that meant a lot to my parents, in their name a couple of years back. My parents are at an age where they don't really want more things, so I thought that was a nice touch

Though, the meaning is somewhat lost when the donation is made to the human fund.
