Mechanix544 12-01-2013, 04:23 PM So, if RG3 shits the bed the first 3 quarters, and we are down 21+ points, we SHOULDN'T put in our more than capable backup? Its just a frikkin game, of course you do. If RG3 isn't performing up to snuff, then put his backup in to light a fire under his ass. All this "don't hurt his confidence, he needs the reps" shit is ridiculous. How many reps does it take for him to push out his bowel movement of a play? If he isn't feeling it any given night, then put Cousins in, thats what he is there for. If he performs good, GREAT, increases his trade value, or increases prospects to be our starter in the eve nt of RG3 consistently shitting the bed or an injury.. If he is average, GREAT, he's our backup. If he does horribly, GREAT, he's a backup, and no controversy.

Be prepared to defend this statement. People are going to shred it.
Slingin Sammy 33 12-01-2013, 05:05 PM Sky...falling.. So to sum it up, if we finish 6-10 this year, then next year will be disastrous and as a result it will be the final year RG3 is a Redskin. Um, ok.Got nothing to do with just record, I don't believe RG3 will want to stay in this circus-like environment with a completely disjointed offensive philosophy. He (or his agent) will make clear to the Skins he won't resign at the end of his 4th year, hence the Skins will trade him after next year to get as much value as they can rather than lose him and get nothing in return.
If you want to believe everything is A-OK with the coaching staff and the Redskins dismal performance is totally unrelated to coaching...Um, ok.

Nah, that's not what I said but you made a ton of assumptions and conclusions. Maybe I was unclear on what you were saying since you referenced the record in your original post. IF Shanny stays RG3 will want out after next year or if we make a change he will want out after next year? Which scenario do you predict disaster?
SolidSnake84 12-01-2013, 05:26 PM One thing I don't like seeing alot is the attitude that the redskins need to keep in RG3 no matter what, no matter how bad he plays, etc... because they don't want to hurt his confidence or his feelings, whatever..
The same people were bashing Shanahan last year for keeping RG3 in there when he knew he wasn't right. Now the playoffs are out of reach, Shanahan says he is keeping RG3 in there, in these meaningless games.. What happens if he gets hurt in a meaningless game?
Then there is that article on NFL.com about how RG3 said that he was targeting the opening season game because he was worried about Kirk Cousins and worried about his job security.
That's exactly what we don't need in DC, another guy who is paranoid and can't handle competition. Reminds me an awful lot of Donovan McNabb, who asked Andy Reid to not re-sign Jeff Garcia after Garcia had a monster year in 2006... The more and more I hear about RG3 the more i am concerned about his attitude. Could be a problem waiting to happen....
donofriose 12-01-2013, 05:35 PM I agree. If the coach thinks he can win with someone else then so be it. I do not imagine there will be a QB more talented than RG3 though, but the coach should still be on control and all he has to do is provide results, regardless of method (within the rules of course).
At 3-9 I don't see how evaluating for next year involves taking much needed snaps away from your 2nd yr QB.
SouperMeister 12-02-2013, 10:06 AM At 3-9 I don't see how evaluating for next year involves taking much needed snaps away from your 2nd yr QB.Battling through this adversity will be good for Robert in the long run. His development as a passer is more important. Defenses are taking away the deep shots off play action, so we need to evolve with more traditional WCO principles that spread the defense horizontally, and get the ball out of the QBs hand quickly and in rhythm.
Monkeydad 12-02-2013, 10:59 AM Griffin missed TC and preseason and it has had a big effect on him. Last night he finally seems to be back to his normal accurate self as a passer and ran for almost 90 yards like it was nothing.
What he needs are reps and experience. Bench him now and all you do is set his development back even more than the injury has already done.
Stupid move.
Also, Cousins could come in and really struggle with this swiss cheese offensive line and there goes his trade value.
Griffin is not the only QB investment we're protecting.
skinsguy 12-02-2013, 11:51 AM Benching Griffin is an idiotic thing to even consider. He needs these last four games under his belt.
