skinsfan69 12-02-2013, 04:48 PM Yes, he'll take us to the Super Bowl, with Kirk Cousins!
How can you tell? He loves EVERY man who plays the position of Quarterback.
I think a lot of people want RG3 to be our QB, regardless of how he plays. Who cares if it's RG3 or Cousins? We should all want the best guy out there, regardless of ego, draft status, money...and that goes for ALL positions. I'd love for Gruden to come in here and say..." all jobs are up for grabs, whoever performs, plays"...kind of what Chip Kelly did.
It's obvious Gruden likes both guys. But... if he's hired, RG3 will not have the long leash that the Shanahans have given him.
mbedner3420 12-02-2013, 05:14 PM So just to be clear we are potentially going from a coach that was out of football for one year to another that will haven been out five years... This doesn't compute.
JG hasn't left coaching football at all.

We brought back Joe Gibbs, who retired, was inducted into the HOF and was a NASCAR owner...and he took us back to the playoffs without a QB.
Gruden's break is nothing to worry about.
Hey...the initials J.G....

Gruden is involved with the NFL everyday
mbedner3420 12-02-2013, 05:40 PM Not to belabor the point, but wasn't Shanny as equally invested in the nfl throughout his yearlong exile? That seemingly didn't help much.
Gruden has been out of the NFL for five years, and hasn't really been actively coaching and working with players to the same degree he would have during his coaching years. I just fear that something may have been lost. Should he be hired, 3 of the past 4 coaches would have had some duration of absence from the game, and the two we've worked with have had marginal success. Granted, two instances isn't necessarily a trend, and it doesn't factor into how gruden will perform, I worry about the odds, regardless. I'd much rather try our luck with an up and comer than a retread.

I can't argue your points about Jon Gruden
SouperMeister 12-02-2013, 06:47 PM So just to be clear we are potentially going from a coach that was out of football for one year to another that will haven been out five years... This doesn't compute. How long was Dick Vermiel out before returning and leading the Rams to a Super Bowl with a grocery bagger as his QB? 15 years? I want a teacher and a leader of men running the show. The jury is still out whether the Shanahans have been solid teachers relative to developing Griffin. Viewing from the outside, it would appear that an offense was modified to Griffin's unique skills, perhaps at the expense of progressing Griffin in the passing game. I want to see far more WCO concepts, where the ball is out of the QB's hand on rhythm, instead of being so dependent on play action passing behind our train-wreck of a pass protection O-line.
Sonny9TD 12-02-2013, 08:16 PM Gruden has forgotten more than most newcomers know.
mbedner3420 12-02-2013, 08:17 PM Who knew I'd spark this much outrage.
