I've had the (dis)pleasure of watching all these fine specimens play QB for the Washington Redskins. There is only one elite QB on this entire list... and his name is RG3. And it's not even close.

Is RG a sure thing? Of course not. But how 'bout we give the kid some time to heal and learn? He's 23 years old for christ sake.

We've waited 27 years for this kid. Patience gentlemen...patience.

Well said and rightfully so. To be a straight up bust at RG's talent level, laziness and lack of character has to be part of the equation. There's nothing about RG that indicates either. He needs pass protection, another downfield target or two and pro level coaching on the sidelines.

Snyder and BA need to get their butts in gear tho. Time's a wastin

McNabb, Brunell, Green, and Gannon had really good careers. The Redskins just gave up on em too early or bought em in too late. That could be said for several current and former NFL players though. Groovy. :(

Matt McGloin can read NFL defenses. Lol

Matt McGloin can read NFL defenses. Lol

He's making plays with Defensive linemen in his face and his receivers have no "separation". Blaming poor play on pass protection and receivers not getting open is a joke.

I haven't seen any posts in this thread where people are saying that RG3 can't turn into that guy. We're being asked if we think he is a certain franchise QB. He's not a franchise QB right now, but this thread seems to lean towards people thinking he can get there. That's showing patience, in my opinion. He has a lot to prove, but he also has years to prove it.

Since the smoke is beginning to clear in RG3 media mutilation, I declare that ultimately RG3 has won this battle.

I believe RG3 is definitely the franchise QB going forward, but it's way, way too early to declare him elite, especially after this shitshow of a season.

By year 4, there should be a clearer picture as to whether or not the he has future HOF potential.

Yes that is fair. I should have phrased it differently - "elite potential". Obviously he has not yet reached elite status on the field.

Those same people would be crying bloody murder if we hadn't made the trade to draft him. They would be remembering last year and all the potential they saw in RG3 and they would be making more negative noise then they are now. If he would have had a difficult 2nd year on whatever other team drafted him, they would attribute it to being on a bad team, or normal sophomore struggles, or missing an all-important offseason, or some other legitimate reason. But no, since he's on our team, he's immediately a bust and not worth the price.

I agree with 30gut. With good coaching and more experience, he will be an elite quarterback.
Great point.

If we hadn't have made the trade right now we'd likely be the Cleveland Browns. We would have 3 other players and still likely be looking for our long term solution at QB.
