It's not the QB folks , it's the entire system and players as a whole

skinsfaninok 11-20-2013, 05:36 PM It's not the QB folks , it's the entire system and players as a whole Green Monk Machine 11-20-2013, 05:45 PM cousins is terrible. you mean like <4 yds in the 1st half terrible or terrible in Kyles Read Option b/c a system change like we saw in Cleveland is the direction we need to go vs Read Option and 2013 seasoning it for the next decade The Goat 11-20-2013, 06:14 PM I think this rough season could be a good thing for Griffin in the long run. Everyone needs a reality check sometimes. Agreed. A dose of reality this year. Next year another weapon or two, better blocking, improved coaching/scheme/play-calling. DynamiteRave 11-20-2013, 08:20 PM More goodies. RGIII reportedly called wrong protection on final INT - NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000285218/article/report-rgiii-called-the-wrong-protection-on-final-int) The Goat 11-20-2013, 08:40 PM Just watched NFL Live on DVR with discussion of skins troubles. They played RG's press conference and first and foremost there's nothing about RG that says he's arrogent to the point of clouding his perspective. He's sharp and wants to win. He also recognizes the situation he's in IMO. That situation, and the way it's being handled by the sports media, is becoming disgraceful. When you look at the myriad mistakes Shanny made with this team, from his disastrous handling of the defense, disastrous handling of the coaching staff namely his goofy kid and washed up d coordinator, and last but not least knee-gate from last season, I find it insulting to human intelligence and basic decency how the talking heads discuss the piss poor shape of the team and RG as having anything to do with each other. Short of a tragic injury, RG should be in pro football long beyond anyone named Shanahan. I just can't understand how anyone can look at the last 4 seasons objectively and then try to justify either father or son working in pro football beyond this season. RG said what everybody should know, defenses know the Shanahan's playbook and tendencies better than the coaches themselves. This legacy shit, keeping Mike and Kyle employed, has to stop. NC_Skins 11-20-2013, 08:50 PM Short of a tragic injury, RG should be in pro football long beyond anyone named Shanahan. :laughing2 Kyle is going to have a long career in the NFL. GTripp0012 11-20-2013, 08:56 PM And 'showcasing' Cousins at this point would do nothing except lower his perceived value. The big point I hope people take away from this thread if nothing else. Good post. punch it in 11-20-2013, 10:33 PM cousins is terrible. Looked pretty damn good coming into a huge spot and beating the eventual superbowl champs last year. Looked pretty freaking awesome kicking the crap out of the browns in a must win last year. He threw a bad pick in his first action ever - cold off the pine - against Atlanta last year, but also threw a beautiful td pass to Moss. As for this year - came in cold - and threw a bad pick six, but looked halfway decent after that. Pretty difficult to come in every once in a blue moon without any first team reps and look good, but Id say he has passed the eye test imo. I think terrible is .... Well ....a terrible word choice to describe the limited action we have seen from him thus far. Southpaw 11-21-2013, 12:26 AM I think terrible is .... Well ....a terrible word choice to describe the limited action we have seen from him thus far. About equal to people thinking he's a better option than Griffin, using the same limited action as evidence. The dude has played one complete game against a garbage football team and people assume he's somehow better than Griffin. It's mind-numbingly ridiculous. Especially considering all of the other 'eye test' evidence points to so-so arm strength, and the potential to be a turnover machine. 44Deezel 11-21-2013, 01:27 AM Robert Griffin III is struggling with his mechanics and missing opportunities (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2013/11/20/robert-griffin-iii-is-missing-opportunities-in-the-passing-game/?tid=up_next) Pretty good break down. And Greg Cosell went on the radio today and said RG3 missed plays the entire game against the Eagles. He wasn't anticipating breaks, was hesitant and held onto the ball too long. He also said his mechanics were all over the map and he was unnecessarily throwing from different angles, which contributed to his inaccuracy. Guys were open and RG3 missed them, yet it's all Shannahan's fault. Got it. Then news breaks late in the day that RG3 called the wrong protection on the last play. But let's blame the O-line. This kind of reminds me of 2007 when Jason Campbell was getting pummeled and there were no running lanes for Clinton Portiis. Campbell apologists put all the blame on the O-line. Then, low and behold, Todd Collins comes in and never gets touched and Portis suddenly has gaping holes to run through. Just maybe Collins knew what protections to call, was able to anticipate what the Defense was going to do BEFORE the ball got snapped and therefore, got rid of the damn ball instead of holding onto it. Maybe Defenses couldn't blitz him like they could Campbell. RG3 just may lead this team to the promised land one day, but right now he's average. His mechanics need work, he has poor pocket awareness, he fumbles like Rex, gets balls batted down too frequently, can't slide and is inaccurate. On top of that, there seems to be growing evidence that he has trouble reading Defenses and can't anticipate what's going to happen pre-snap. Good news is that he's only in his second year and can and probably will improve. But the onus is on him and blaming the coaching, the system or the O-line is loser talk and only deflects accountability. |
