If there is one uncapped year in the NFL the cap will die forever.
I doubt it. All but Snyder and Jones (and probably not even those two) would never allow spending to go completely unchecked forever. If the uncapped year goes into effect, the owners will have a lockout until a CBA with a cap (a larger one) is in effect.
Both Snyder and Jones, and perhaps one or two other owners, would welcome a chance to "buy a championship" unfettered by the constraints of the cap. When the price came due, they would undoubtedly return to the shelter of some kind of salary cap.
