firstdown 10-29-2013, 11:37 AM for taking the money and advantage of the situation. if that was his plan going in. We set ourselves up by developing a culture of paying players well over their ability. Its no secret agents sought out rediculous contracts from us because we were fools. I think Haynesworth is a pos no doubt
Any player could do this to any team after signing a contract. Personally I would thank that Snyder would have a case to sue AH for a breach of contract.
Yeah maybe, but we were the fools to give him the money. Very dumb, thank god we have reversed that culture here. Shanny and Bruce have done an excellent job in that department.
If he didn't get paid here it would have been elsewhere and he would have pulled the same crap. Skins weren't the only team in the running. Yeah it sucks it ended up being our mistake, but it doesn't change the fact the guy is a bum of epic proportion.
htownskinfan 10-29-2013, 11:49 AM I dont want to call Cooley a liar, but why the hell would Haynesworth tell his team mates this?
And from what I remember 90% of the people on this forum thought Haynesworth played pretty damn good his first year here
JoeRedskin 10-29-2013, 11:51 AM Sure management at the time was idiotic. Trust me, I get that - the thought of VC makes me wretch. So, yeah, they got taken advantage of b/c they were stupid. Stupider than most others at the time.
Regardless, it's the old adage - two wrongs don't make a right. Sure, given the culture he created, VC got exactly what he deserved - a douche ball, classless, a-hole who was only interested in "show me the money".
That, however, doesn't change the fact that Haynesworth was a douche ball, classless, a-hole.
htownskinfan 10-29-2013, 11:59 AM I think we can all agree A.H. was a douche. But looking at his stats on his first yr here, they are in line with every other season AH had to that point.
2nd yr,Shanny comes in ,switches to 3-4,pisses off AH,things go downhill fast from there
How much of it was contract, the switch to 3-4,only A.H. knows for sure I guess

I don't think anyone disputed his ability at any time. I remember a lot of second guessing about how he was being used and similar discussions. Generally, as I recall, it broke down along the lines, "coaching sucks they aren't using him right" v. "you signed the contract, you do what the coaches want".
Why he tell them? B/c he was an arrogant bastard who didn't care about anyone but himself and knew they would be practically no repercussions. Maybe DS brings a lawsuit, maybe not.
Also, I thought I read he was in bankruptcy ... not sure though.

Do you have some info that would contradict what Cooley was exposed to while playing for the team?
AH's actions back up what CC is saying pretty well.

Yes I do
Cult Brennan has assured me Cooley is wrong, lol
Cooleys probably telling it like it is,just hard to believe someone would be so stupid as to tell his teammates that
Also haynesworths play his first yr here does not back up what Cooley is saying

He played ok his first year here, nothing special though. Certainly not up to the level of a guy making $100M. He also had issues that year, questioning the D and Blache (he wasn't happy with the D even before the change to the 3-4), not participating in offseason workouts, etc.
Plus that was when Zorn was here. Once a real coach showed up he really showed his true colors.
