Aren't the Broncos a lot better vs the run than the pass though?
I agree that we're going to have to run a bit to execute our full offense. We're really not talented enough to sit back and chuck it the way Dallas did for an entire half against them.
I don't think it's a secret that the only way to beat the Broncos is for the offense to put up a bunch of TDs early, and then let the defense take advantage of the depleted Broncos OL. Only problem is "score a bunch of touchdowns" is going to be task of execution, rather than something you can design before the game. If only it were that easy.
BTW, I'm watching the Colts-Redskins game from 2010 right now and Garcon just got behind the defense for a first quarter touchdown. We should totally go get that guy.
Going back through Denver's opponents:
Ravens: 21 Rushing attempts.
Giants: 19 Rushing attempts
Oakland: 17 Rushing attempts
Philly: 35 Rushing attempts (only 8 after halftime)
Dallas: 14 Rushing attempts
Jax: 27 Rushing attempts
Ind: 31 Rushing attempts
I get the feeling that Denver's D is "a lot better than the pass" in part b/c of their ability to play from the lead and the level of competition. Just looking at their opponents, none save Indy and Philly committed to the run (Jax did but that's b/c there passing offense sucks - really, you can almost play a 10 man box against them and still stymie their passing game).
Just can't give up cheap points through big plays or special teams. If you make them work for their points, they can be beat.
