The Goat 11-13-2013, 06:41 PM You're assuming a new coaching staff is not going to touch the offense. That's a lot to assume.
I'm hoping they do touch the offense actually. Seeing our smaller, lighter oline get trucked, especially on passing downs, and our franchise QB get trucked shortly thereafter, game after game, I'm not a believer in Mikes version of the zone blocking system. And I think Alfmo will be a great back behind any (good oline). And we all agree wr talent needs to be added. So there's plenty of touching required on offense and defense.
This notion recently sprung up that our offense good to go, this same offense that could only score 3 points in a half against the lowly Vikings, already has my ass twitching.
The Goat 11-13-2013, 06:46 PM Unless you want to hire a figurehead like Zorn, a new coach always brings a new philosophy in terms of systems, personnel and team building. Look at when Denver got rid of Shanahan. McDaniels takes over and wastes no time getting rid of Cutler and later Marshall.
You can't assume a new coach is going to take over and just ride with what we've got. More often than not significant changes happen.
Kind of interesting that you cite two regime changes where the newcomer blows it up, and struggles mightily. I guess for you it's got to be all or nothing? Couldn't be a situation like Harbaugh in SF, Carroll in Seattle, Gruden who we see every week on the boobtube or the myriad other coaches who've taken a team with talent and made it better.
SolidSnake84 11-13-2013, 07:27 PM JOE GIBBS I I I would be J G I I I to go with R G I I I
Someone on another board said the same thing, Joe Gibbs. Is this just a joke? I hope it's not serious. Would Joe Gibbs really come back, or is he even being discussed???

It might be an extreme example, but still, you can't rule it out. When new coaches come in it's usually because a lot is broken and the last guy couldn't get it right.
What did Carroll take over in Seattle exactly? They were a mess when he got there coming off 9 wins in 2 years.

If we had even a middle of the pack D we would be much better off right now.
The offense is top 10 in yards and points.
Gmanc711 11-13-2013, 08:20 PM Likely will NOT be Art Briles. He just got extended with Baylor through 2023, they buyout to come to the NFL would be significant.
CrustyRedskin 11-13-2013, 08:44 PM Bud Grant.

It's for the best. I wasn't really on board with Briles. As nice as it would have been to have RG3 reunite with a familiar face and under a system he has had success in, it wouldn't have been a good fit overall.

Carroll
a) added talent to an already talented team to make it a contender in three seasons
b) built a contender from nothing in three seasons
c) something between choices a or b
My answer: hire the next Pete Carroll for HC.
He's out there somewhere...
The Goat 11-13-2013, 09:40 PM Didn't answer the poll.
IMO Mike's future here should depend on his plan/choices to replace his OC, DC and special teams coaches. Also, how will he improve the offensive scheme to be a better pass-protecting unit and require less physical pummeling of the franchise QB. Running QBs never last, regardless whether they're "design" runners or running for their life lmao.
