Historically a lot of college coaches do work out. It's about finding the right one. The guy averages over 700 yards of offense a game in college and was RG3 Head Coach.
Here is a nice article on him about his playbooks.
ESPN NCAAF Briles' offense built around each QB (http://m.espn.go.com/ncf/story?storyId=9833069&src=desktop&wjb)
Not every college coach is Spurrier.
I mean strictly college coaches meaning no NFL exp before. Who has worked out besides JJ?

Your conciseness on the fork in the road and which direction you're looking. I thought you'd back Shanny to the (bitter) end.
Because I don't think he's a an asshole doesn't mean I think he should be the HC here

NTM Briles is almost 60, we need a young gun in here

I guess i'll never get the obsession over "young guns" people thrive for. If the coach can coach.. Who cares his age? He's not going out and catching passes.

true but teams lately seem to be thriving under younger coaches,
PITT, BAL , SF etc.

I let him walk now or extend him, likely the former. I don't go into next off-season with a lame duck HC
Why should it be any different for a coach than a player? You see teams not re-sign a player in his final year to see if he proves he deserves another contract. To me, it's step up or step out. He doesn't deserve a contract extension at this point, and to be sure he's up to the challenge of proving himself.

In each of those situation, the coach inherited a team that wasn't a complete mess and had talent. Had any of the Harbaugh's inherited this mess, I assure you they wouldn't have had the same results.

Because a coach has a greater impact. A FA isn't going to reconsider signing if Moss is in his last year but he might if Shanahan does

You're probably right.
So do you let him walk and promote Kyle or clean house entirely?

I'd move them both probably
