Who's your pick's for next HC, DC and OC?

I like SD coach McCoy, I would like to find someone like him. I think he is been doing an excellent job and will be a pretty good coach.

Lol. I cant remember Walton but since I've been watching Mike Nolan was the worst DC in DC imho.

The only bad years they had prior to 2003 came in 2008 and 2009. Prior to that time, they average 10 wins per season. A FAR FAR cry from the situation our team was in. If you think they are remotely comparable, you are clueless. It's not.

Now, if you want to make the claim that Carroll and crew have made better moves via draft and FA since taking over, then you have a lot of ground to work with on that front. Would they be signing those FA if they had been stuck with 36 million cap penalty though? Probably not.Well, I mean, it's really obvious that they've made better moves. Everybody knows that.

You not wanting to admit the situations were pretty freakin close doesn't make it less close. I'll agree to disagree on the point since I don't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting you to revisit some of the key points of your understanding of the pre-Shanahan Redskins. Only time can do that. And even then, your heels are pretty dug in.

Let's move in this direction: the cap penalty. Who on this team (current member of the 53 man roster) is NOT here because we were too cap-strapped to replace them? Gumbs? Hall? Those are the only names I can think of where the Redskins didn't have a player to keep because they couldn't afford to overpay Aqib Talib or DaShon Goldson.

Like it or not, 50/53 players on this team would be here even without the cap penalty. We know that because we had legitimate, cheap competition during training camp, and chose the current roster over those guys.

And it would matter a lot less if Mike didn't waste his first two seasons blowing up the defense and making several big mistakes at QB.


That's a valid point, but Pete had Matt Hasselbeck coming in. Shanny had Jason Campbell...lol I personally thought it was a horrible move (then and now) because we lacked way too much talent to be giving picks away. Hell, I still thought we gave up too much for RGIII.

The Seahawks aren't trading for Percy Harvin or giving Brandon Browner a raise if they had a cap penalty on them. But then they also have two high draft picks with which to build their team. They would have weathered the cap penalty that we have just fine.

The cap penalty isn't the difference between us and a great team. Talent is way down on the list of problems we face. Mike and co probably take up the top ten spots on the list and the cap penalty might be the eleventh.The cap penalty is the difference between this team and this team with Aqib Talib instead of DeAngelo Hall or EJ Biggers (and possibly Eddie Royal instead of Moss). That's it. That's what 36 million cost us.

We couldn't afford a front-line corner. It's unfair. But that's the practical cost.

There have been franchises that have been terrible and new coaches were able to make them playoff teams or at least the teams had shown improvement in less than three years.

The cap penalty is unique to the Redskins but pretty much this same team went 10-6 with similar restrictions, and last I checked the NFC East is actually worst than last year. And signing free agents is not the key to developing great teams, drafting and developing players is what will win you games, and besides Trent Williams, what player has been a for sure great draft pick that the Redskins have developed to his potential?

The Seahawks were good when Holmgren was there, but the minute he left the team went straight downhill and became one of the worst franchises in the NFL. Just like When Gibbs left the Skins. Let us not act like the Seahawks were in that much of better than what Shanahan inherited.

Uh, I'm not so sure about that. They wanted more than just Talib. They wanted Finnegan. They wanted a big play WR. They wanted OL help (Eric Winston ring a bell?) I forget what Safeties and LBs were available in FA the past 2 years, so I can't think of any more names. EDIT: Retaining Lorenzo is another to add.
