Most owners don't want it. I'll take some credit/blame for it though since a key element to it is the most recent deal the league signed with ESPN (of which I played a role). The deal Goodell agreed to gives the league the option of giving ESPN a playoff game. There are clauses in places if they're not given one, which I won't get into. But he's faced with two options. You might get a team with a losing record, but atleast all the teams are going to try there best.
