Griffin dove, and in the act of the dive the ground caused the fumble. Given that in that case the ground CAN cause a fumble, something I always remember hearing couldn't happen :(, For the lack of a better explanation, Griffin didn't complete the act of the dive. If he had gotten up and dropped the ball it would not have been a fumble, but he didn't and it was. It's just a dumb rule, but it was done correctly both times.
