Big C 03-18-2005, 12:48 PM we do not trade down unless the 2 CB's are gone. if that is the case, try and trade down to around 14-18 and take Carlos Rogers. Hes big, and runs a sup 4.4 40, played for Auburn, is a very solid player. If he is gone then, try and pick up williamson if he is available, and if he is not, i might go for best available, a la Thomas Davis and play him at safety. i dont advocate drafting a DE coming off a serious injury (erasmus james), although it was his junior year when it happened. the DE id prefer is Pollack because of his motor, desire, and production. but my first choice would be a CB no doubt. hold off on a WR till the 3rd round
Monksdown 03-18-2005, 12:59 PM everyone is banking on Gardner leaving town...i really don't see it happening now...
there hasn't been much talk about him going anywhere, and the one team we thought we could ship him to just signed Travis Taylor...
Now that Plex is sold, Gardner is next. Book It!
HermosaBeach Skin Fan 03-18-2005, 01:26 PM Is Rod really that bad. I mean, I know he's streaky, but certainly I think he's better than a third round pick. Not meaning that we'd get higher than that for him, but I think he's got upside and he's not hitting the cap too bad. Put it this way, I'd rather keep him then draft a WR in the third round with a pick we traded for.

We pay him to much, if his value is only 3rd round or worse.
hurrykaine 03-18-2005, 02:04 PM Finally!!!!! Someone else comes forward and admits that Jackson would be a good fit with us. I have mentioned him other time on here before. I felt that we could trade down pick up more picks take Clayton in the first round or pick up a DE. Then pick up Jackson. I too seen him at the combine on the NFL Network, and for his size and speed he looked good. I am glad that someone else noticed this prospect also.
If I remember correctly, his name has been brought up as a draft prospect on one of the threads immediately after our miserable season ended.
I'm all for trading down for a later 1st round and an early 2nd rounder. We pick Rodgers, CB, Auburn with the late first, and Jackson in our second. In the third, we ought to grab that center from UNC. Good depth on the O-line.
In his interviews on the radio, Gibbs almost ruled out picking a TE in the draft - though if Heath Miller is available after we trade down, I wouldn't be opposed to picking him in the 1st - would be a high impact addition to our offense.
diehardskin2982 03-18-2005, 03:42 PM Gibbs is up front but never rules any thing out so his words didn't tell me much in the interviews
56FAN 03-18-2005, 05:52 PM I Agree With Bigc About The Cb's And Taking Vincent In The 2nd. But Springs And Harris Are 30 And 31. Time To Grome Some Guys
offiss 03-18-2005, 07:16 PM I don't think we'll find that many suitors to trade up to the 9th pick. Perhaps the closer we get to the draft, the more draft trade talk with heat up, but right now it doesn't like we'll have the chance to trade down.
Plus, Rolle won't slip past #15 and in all likelihood, he'll be gone a few picks before that. So, I don't think Rolle + Jackson is a likely outcome.
Finally, while we need depth on the O-line, I think we have more pressing needs than guard/center with the signing of Rabach. Lennie Friedman, Ray Brown, Jim Molinaro, and Mark Wilson provide some depth. I think we need more depth at MLB and CB.
Rolle is tough to gauge as far as placement in this draft, Kiper has him dropping all the way to Jacksonville at 21.
RF that was a good call I forget about MLB when I wrote that, I defiently agree with you there, but I also think we really need a good backup at the center position, we are an injury away from watching Raymer or Friedman get pushed all over the field again we can't risk that after what we saw last year, but I also believe we can address MLB in the later round's, I have faith in William's system, and his ability to make chicken salad out of chicken s*%#

That's funny because I had mentioned him on a lesser note a few times since I saw his workout at the combine, but I didn't get a lot of feedback on him, he's this year's Julius Jones, who I pegged last year but know one really gave the kid much credit, as soon as Parcell's took him I knew I was right, well I am starting the Vincent bandwagon now, it's nice to see I am not alone, now we just have to convince management to get on board as well. :biggthump

Yeah, I too have mentioned him for us to take a look at along with Clayton. I was really unaware of him untill the best network on the planet, NFL Network, showed the combine. When I saw how big he was and his speed for his size, I thougt that he would fit in good with the redskins and probably be cheap to pick up.
