Not that I wish ill on the man, but couldn't this have happened before Sunday's game?
artmonkforhallofamein07 09-24-2013, 08:49 PM It wouldn't have mattered who they trotted out there... lol
Broyles just would have had a better game
NC_Skins 09-24-2013, 11:36 PM Even with a broken arm, Burleson would have still had 100+ yards.
The Goat 09-25-2013, 12:48 AM I feel like the problems on offense go well beyond RG making a few big mistakes. The line really has done a poor job blocking across the board. It's still questionable whether Mikes style of smaller, quicker lineman can work against today's defenses. Play-calling is still a problem. It's better than pre RG days where defenses knew Kyles plays about half the time, but it's still bad enough you see missed opportunities. I guess what I'm saying is there's as many reasons to be as frustrated with the offense overall as with the defense given the talent level of each unit. Offense has more talent to work with than defense.
Monkeydad 09-25-2013, 09:58 AM If you meant read option you are correct. Trading away 3 first rounders to make RG3 a 100 % drop back passer is absurd. The read option was made for RG3 and they better get back to it or watch this thing get real ugly.
We're not talking about abandoning his running abilities, we're just developing the pocket passing while he physically comes back from this injury. He obviously should be and maybe can not be the runner he was in 2012, so using this time period to protect him while also developing and improving another part of his game will be beneficial in the long run. He'll return to his 2012 form, but you can't expect it 8 months after surgery without taking a single live snap even in a preseason game. He's healthy enough to be out there, but no player could completely take that much time off from football activities without needing some time to get timing and the mental part of the game back. He's throwing the ball very well with the exception of a few bad interceptions. On offense, it appears right now we're playing with the future, long-term goals of the team in mind rather than going all-out to win every week. Frustrating to watch but it will pay off when Robert is completely "back".
Look how awful Michael Vick has been trying to be a passing QB to extend his career. He has some highlights because Reid and Kelly go for big plays boom or bust, but he's been an inaccurate turnover machine when you look at the big picture. Robert will be miles ahead of him when that point comes in his career and this team will be better off because of it.
So now, we just have to watch and wait. If Griffin was not injured, there's no way he'd be attempting 50 passes in a game, EVER. But, we're in a unique spot where we have a running QB that we want to protect while he re-acquaints himself with the game. He's been effective as a pocket passer and he's improving every week and more importantly, with every week, his knee is getting stronger and stronger without injuring it again. He showed he can still take off and run. We'll see more and more of that as the season progresses. We may not call as many designed QB runs and it would probably be smart not to, but he'll still find his running lanes and turn losses into big gains out of no where.
Just practice sliding, Robert!
NC_Skins 09-25-2013, 09:33 PM Eh, not likely. Some here know I've been thinking this for a while. I don't think RG3, Mike and Kyle can effectively coexist much longer. One of the biggest misconceptions about Mike and Kyle is that they just agree on everything because they're father/son. And to be clear, it's just a football thing. They have different ideas. And their franchise QB is unfortunately stuck in the middle. RG3 and Mike aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Well, not RG3 at least. So the right thing would be for Kyle to go. Find his own path. I think, I know, he's earned a strong enough reputation around the league to do so. And, as I've said before here too, he's not a favorite of Bruce Allen. Not saying he doesn't like him. Just saying he's not guaranteed to be the next HC here, nor should he be
Going to put this here since this relationship was talked about here. It appears we have another situation where Snyder is involved in a personal relationship with his top player and it's causing some strife between coach, player and owner.
Seems Schefter was on ESPN980 and talked about Shanny/RGIII and the Redskins.
Schefter on RGIII and Snyder (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2013/09/25/schefter-on-rgiii-and-snyder/)
(the radio segment)

Do you think that maybe empowers Robert if there is a dispute, to feel that he can push his will?”
“I think both of those statements are true,” Schefter said. “I think it complicates it, and I think it empowers Robert. Yes. I think both those things are true. Now, Dan Snyder is a different owner than a lot of other owners, so he doesn’t conduct his business the way that Pat Bowlen conducts his business or the way that some other people conduct their business. Dan has been a tremendously successful business man, so it’s hard to argue about what he’s done and the way he’s handled his business, to me. But, saying that, yes, I do think that that has empowered RGIII. Yes.”
I have no problem with Mike not wanting to be RGIII's friend. This is how it should be. He doesn't need to be Robert's "friend", he needs to be his coach. I am annoyed that Snyder is being RGIII's buddy. Dude needs to stay the **** away from players on a personnel level. We've seen this shit before with Clinton Portis and that fiasco. This shit will not end well. **** YOU SNYDER!!!
edit: ....and confirmation of this:
@HTTR24_7
@sugewhite94 @tottranet Kev is good.. Tell you one thing, Adam just nailed it in his interview.
SmootSmack 09-25-2013, 09:52 PM Well even if they weren't buddies, I think RG3 knows he has the power here. The future of this franchise is RG3, not Mike Shanahan.

Than we have the wrong QB. You don't see this shit happening with Manning, Brady, Luck, Ryan, Rodgers or Brees.
SmootSmack 09-25-2013, 10:08 PM Then we have the wrong QB. You don't see this shit happening with Manning, Brady, Luck, Ryan, Rodgers or Brees.
What are you talking about? Manning and Irsay definitely friends. Brady and Kraft absolutely friends. Ryan and Blank...yup?
Is it some crime for an owner and player to be friends? Snyder is also friends with Bruce Allen. Spends time with Mike Shanahan and his family too.
But back to the "issue". RG3 being empowered. Again, damn right he is. He's the star player, the franchise QB. Just like all the other guys listed above.

I wasn't clear. I was referencing that you don't see that shit happening with the other guys in relation to that owner's relationship getting in the way of the coach at hand. This may be inaccurate, but it's nothing that's been brought to the public such as this situation has.
We know what happens when Snyder becomes friends with players. Look at the crap that happened with Clinton Portis. Ran to the owner to undermine his coach. We can't have that crap happening, and do you really trust Snyder not to meddle like before?
