mredskins 09-17-2013, 01:55 PM I can't buy the arguments, GTripp. RG3 hasn't been able to move this offense until the game is already out of reach. The only time our games have been competitive is between kickoff and 13:00 minutes remaining in the first quarter. I do not believe all of our woes are because of RG3, but many of them are on RG3.
Here are some of my casual observations from the two games thus far:
1) RG3 is not planting and throwing. His mechanics have gone to hell and I believe that is because of the status of his knee. He's throwing it sideways and he rarely drops back, plants, and fires.
2) Because he's using poor mechanics, we're seeing a lot more balls sail on him. This kid used to deliver balls on a frozen rope, that is gone. He is no longer delivering with the velocity and accuracy he did in the past. I understand he's going from the pocket now, but it remains that he's not delivering like he had.
3) I want to emphasize WHEN he's put up his numbers. In the GB game it was 31-0 before we scored our first points in the 3rd quarter. At that point, the defense isn't worried about putting pressure on the QB and making big plays. They're concerned with working the clock and giving underneath throws. The first game was the exact same way before we scored our first offensive TD. We are scoring in the 4th quarter and 3rd quarter. At this point, defenses have already softened and they're working on the clock.
4) The commentators you blast, many of them have had the same type of procedures. Everyone said it took a significant amount of time to come back and feel comfortable. While the only person that can truly answer this question is RG3 himself -- I believe the consensus is that these procedures often require more time to heal -- both physically and mentally.
Excellent post. Thank you.

Gtripp is really Kyle Shanahan

Great post man. I have my doubts whether he's 100%.
artmonkforhallofamein07 09-17-2013, 02:11 PM Good post I agree with all of this , the Q will be if/when RG3 can be the same player again
I have no doubt that he will be. The only question I have is will it be soon? I have a feeling that next year the kid is all the way back and is damn impressive. With that said there is no way I would start anyone other than III while he his getting up to speed. All of this Cousins talk is ridiculous.

Good Post.. Basically everything I said in a more summarized version on the first page. I'm glad we agree.

Good post, Daseal.
punch it in 09-17-2013, 02:46 PM What does that even mean?
I think it means he has more time on his hands than i do to watch game tape, or that he is watching game tape in his underwear with a rooster named Bo - because that is definitely not something that happens everyday.
Green Monk Machine 09-17-2013, 02:55 PM How does dumping the pistol help? You have actually seen a lot more teams incorporate it, because it gives qbs a split second more time to read the defenses.
As for the RO I think all the RO teams wanted to get a feel for how the refs were going to call it and how defenses were going to adjust.
No matter what this week the offense needs to come out on track.
Hi Rule. Yes, the RO is spreading and doing wonders- for everyone other than us. I come from the understanding that this a passing era and the QB is evermore important these days. Defense is now overrated b/c as long as you can pass and score with ease, then any game can be won. What's troubled me to plead we stop with the RO is b/c of how Shanny wants to use rob in it. He has managed to take the most competent and able QB to run RO and subject him to unnecessary injury. Lesser talented QB's Wilson, Kapernick were drafted later and cost less, yet sound mgt and coaching has avoided their injuries and have taken them further in the postseason. Kyle had his shot, he blew it and while rob is present and playing, his injury is really costing him the 2013 season. I was for rob to not start the year. He needs to rest. Kyle was supposed to retool the offense to his strengths. Wasn't that done last year, sort of? Where is the offense for a < healthy QB who is his former self? The offense is disgusting right now.
To quote the most scholarly source, he's a "bama" or "ma' ba" which has yet to be fully understood.....

I too agree with all this also, theres no way Rg3 is 100%.He's about 60% of what he was last yr if that.
His total qbr rating pretty much says it all,he's only ahead of Brandon Weeden and Blaine Gabbert
